    Advice to Management

Tell us what's happening! If there are layoffs, don't just say so and let us sit for months without knowing what's going on. Even telling us that your still working on who is going and staying, keep us informed! No news IS NOT good news.

I have been working at Sikorsky full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance. Long days and hours are not the norm. Technical excellence is rewarded and recognized. Opportunities are available internal to the company. Good benefits. Great coworkers (depending on team) that are invested in their work. Satisfaction in seeing your products and solutions fly. Ethics and ethical culture are forefront in work.

    Cons

Wages are not very competitive relative to industry. Flex time is below industry standard. Company relies on "heroes" to solve issues. Process and bureaucracy can slow progress.

    Advice to Management

Compensation can be improved to match industry and cost of living in area. Progression in career should be encouraged. Certain capable employees are pigeon-holed due to program needs.

I worked at Sikorsky full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Iconic brand, get to work on things involving cool helicopters, good benefits, competitive pay, willingness to pay for professional development.

    Cons

Parking is awful, the plant is huge and if you work in the office you may literally have to walk a mile to get to a meeting at the other end of the building.

It is almost impossible to get anything done. Projects will linger for months, maybe years waiting for approval from the ridiculous amount of management layers. Managers are not given much, if any, supervisory training, and it is manager's discretion to decide if their employees can work from home, have flexible work schedule, etc. So people next to you can have all the freedom in the world and be treated like professionals, while you are stuck your desk watching a clock and have to sign out on the board when you want to go to the bathroom (no joke).

    Advice to Management

Training, training and more training to teach people who have been promoted how to manage their direct reports. Set standardized policies regarding schedules and remote work.
