I worked at Silicon Graphics International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Start up atmosphere, wearing lots of hats, moving quickly. Tight team, good management, lots of experienced coworkers, good benefits, flexible.

    Cons

Communication of what head quarters wants or needed was not always clear. Future development was always a question, having to deal with head quarters and their ancient systems.

    Advice to Management

Stay more involved in remote locations

Harsh competition on price rather than value
Too dependent on public sector and cyclical business

    Advice to Management

Too late, too little...management sold off the business to cash in with their exist package

    Pros

Great people, good salary, unlimited time off policy

    Cons

SGI was recently acquired by HPE. If your job wasn't eliminated, you will become just a number.
SGI "temporarily" discontinued 401k match months prior to acquisition, then never offered a retroactive match once acquisition was announced.

Worst Board of Directors ever assembled in the history of IT Industry.
