    Pros

Great technology, wonderful team and interesting projects.

    Cons

Not enough budget for anything, no growth for young professionals and low salaries.

    Advice to Management

Understand your employees, customers and clients. Don't just push the product before you know what your customer wants.

    Pros

It is great place to work. Friendly atmosphere. People are good to work with. You can learn a lot from the technical staff here.

    Cons

The company does not have any clear long term vision. Their main goal seems to be to improve sales, but they have no cohesive strategy.

    Advice to Management

Look at other technology companies in the field and consider how they are adapting to a rapidly changing environment.

    Pros

The people I worked with were great and in my team, working from home was an option when you needed to be with kids or were out sick.

    Cons

In the time I worked there, I felt like there were layoffs 1-4 times every year. It really didn't help morale to always wonder whether your job was safe. I felt like management wasn't sure which direction to go and was invested in too many different projects.

    Pros

A lot of potential in merging SGI and Rackable

    Cons

Company is fractured into leaderless camps struggling to own the company. No good will come of it.

    Advice to Management

    Lead

    Pros

Its a job and money gets deposited into your account.

    Cons

This is a company two bankruptcies removed from the SGI you may fondly remember. It is purely a hardware company now and has little knowledge about how to do a pure software project. Stay away if you are a software engineer. Also, it looks like their business is imploding, two office space "consolidations" in two years there (ie. mass layoffs). It seems unclear that they will grow beyond their fat government clients. It seems clear they no longer have the staffing levels to service their sales going into the future. They still act arrogant like they are still the Google or Apple of the 80's that they were back then. Their internal software tools are from the dark ages as well. Maybe that's harsh, they are now up to IE9 so maybe that is early enlightenment era?

    Advice to Management

Don't know what to say. Don't give up barely profitable but huge volume Amazon contracts when those give you the economy of scale to profit elsewhere. Don't destaff or underfund or understaff projects if you want them to succeed? Or maybe the rocks and hard places are too much and the company is doomed no matter what? Maybe an all hands meeting is not the place for the CEO to get angry and tell people to just quit if they are just going to phone it home? I mean say that to their faces, don't bum out the rest of us?

Or just go bankrupt again and roll the acquisition dice. Maybe the new owners will fix things or be a better fit. Milk that SGI name recognition.

    Pros

A small company provides you with the ability to work across multiple business groups and meet people through out the company. The company has a clear direction that is discussed openly.

    Cons

Room for growth is limited. You need to take your time in order to establish yourself and your reputation before being able to make an impact.

    Advice to Management

There are a lot of top notch, high quality talented individuals and it can be a great place to till for talent.

    Pros

Great people and technology, company culture used to be a sense of employee community. Employees were proud of the technology and how it was used to help solve some of the world's most challenging problems.

    Cons

Unfortunately with the change of the Executive team within the past 3 years, the company has lost what used to be so special, that "employees were the most important asset to the company," The Execs are concerned about their own financial state, and continue to blame the employees due to the failure of the company's ability to succeed, vs looking at the poor decisions that have made which has cost the company $$$$$$$'s. Company morale is low and a great sense of disengagement from the Exec team.

    Advice to Management

The Board of Directors should be more active in understanding the company's problems, look at the top vs supporting the ongoing jobs that are eliminated to reduce costs.
