I have been working at Silicon Labs full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, great strategy, great work, great location, great perks. Everyone gets an office with a door, often with a window, although it sounds like this is eventually going to go away, with only very senior managers getting offices on the interior of the building, so more of the rank and file can enjoy the windows from a nice new open plan office environment (you might consider this a pro or a con),

    Cons

Ability to execute often doesn't match the vision, which can result in overworked and stressed out employees, and frustrated customers. This is rarely the fault of the engineers working on the execution, it is usually is down to things like understaffing, under-scoping, lack of, or changing, priorities, etc.
It can be tough to get promoted, director and above can be really difficult, there are many people who would be likely be directors at other companies (but bear in mind some companies will give employees titles in lieu of pay).
While management puts a lot of focus on employee happiness, with regular surveys and continually tweaking things to try to improve survey results, all this effort is being undermined by one completely unnecessary practice. Periodically, seemingly randomly, really good people get fired. Every few months a few valued colleagues suddenly disappear, "not for performance reasons," but because of some minor change in direction or priorities, often on the whim of some new incoming manager. These are typically senior people, VPs, directors, senior managers. If there wasn't a performance issue why couldn't these people be redeployed into other roles? Those left behind are wondering who is next? Does this instill employee loyalty, trust and confidence in management?

    Advice to Management

If there isn't a performance issue, please don't fire people, this practice isn't good for employee morale. (If it wasn't for this one negative point this would be a five star review!)
