      I have been working at Silver Chef full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      - so many genuinely good people - a company that works hard to hold profit and purpose equally - an awesome product that really benefits the hospitality industry

      Cons

      - significant change over the last 18 months - a few people with too much of a sense of entitlement but they have slowly moved on

      Advice to Management

      - continue to work hard and over-communicate as the business transforms - ensure poor performance is quickly and effectively managed

      Pros

      Some people there genuinely do care about the business wanting to succeed and the old morals of do what’s right for the customer still exists within some departments.

      Cons

      The current executive team have run the company down. The CEO is out of his depth and has surrounded himself with a team who do not know what they are doing and are out for themselves. No amount of investment will help the failing company with the executive team as it stands. Silverchef needs professionals who know what they’re doing. Customers and staff are no longer put first.       Pros

      When I first started, it was amazing. Welcome card and morning tea, monthly massage, team lunches. Two out of five Team Leaders I had in the time were Fantastic & Supportive (the others not so much). Some fantastic people across different locations that will remain in contact post Silver Chef

      *Poor business decisions from management regarding allowing savoury deals to go ahead and having a reactive rather than proactive approach. *No chance of promotion due to "it's not what you know, but who you know" or who you're close with DG. Also for HR to close applications for a role off early and hire for it before letting others apply. *The systems used were horrible. A system put in place was not meant for its...

      *Listen to your staff when they prompt you of dodgy deals or ideas to bring good deals in. *Be more transparent in your decisions rather than making decisions without consultation

      I have been working at Silver Chef full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

      The people and some leaders are great to work with taking a genuine interest in your development and learning. Again, this is only for some leaders.

      Cons

      To get further in the company, it’s become clear that it’s who you know and not what you know. The core values are out the window which is sad because these are supposed to be driven from the top down. How are employees supposed to live the values of the company if the executive team aren’t?

      Advice to Management

      More focus is required on rebuilding the culture that was once great but now lost. I understand the business needs to make money but you’re forgetting that it’s the people that you employ who help to achieve that goal of making money. Management need to stop telling the people that everything is ok when in reality, the looks on people’s faces and the enthusiasm that used to exist in the office is diminished.

      Silver Chef use to be a place that cared about their people and purpose. Unfortunately due to some unskilled and unqualified people running the business, they have driven the company to make poor choices and ruin every aspect Allan built.       Stop promoting or giving pay rises to people that don’t have the skills to do that job Actually recognise the hard workers and not the lazy ones who don’t even do a full week of work.

      There are NO Pro's working for this company. Everything is smoke & mirrors.

      - Silver Chef have a nasty habit of making irrelevant people feel very relevant, this leads to pedestals & power trips. Not to mention uneducated decisions. - Very little relevant experience in the the Management and Executive teams. - Important company decisions are made on who you know and NOT your experience.       My advice is for the potential new owners of this company-: - Read every review on this page carefully, i think you will find a pattern, rather than a bunch of disgruntled employees. - Get rid of the entire Executive Management team and start again.       Good people, high ideals, good perks

      Cons

      Inexperienced management believed their own marketing, lost shareholders a bunch of money and needed to fire a lot of loyal staff. Happens in business but was inconsistent with internal messaging. A real shame.
