I worked at Silver Peak Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent enterprise SD-WAN product.
Right product at the right time.
    Smart people.
    Many very nice people.
Decent pay if you're smart and persistent enough to negotiate it.
I didn't waste my whole life at this place.

    Cons

    Prepare To Be:

    1) Asked to deceive your prospects to close the deal.
    2) Sitting around and waiting for months if you lose your SE or account manager - and wait at your own expense.
    3) Disappointed in just about every way with your sales leadership.
    4) Broke, because sales leadership will steal your large opp right out from under you and you'll never see a dime in commission. They call this "Major Accounts".
    5) Confused because someone immediately above or below in your reporting structure / org has been let go a week ago and nobody bothered to tell you, which is why your emails and calls to that person involved with a certain business process have gone unanswered, and now your deal is slipping.
    6) Uncompetitive as basic features are lacking and new features are barely even half-baked.
    7) Neglected in the field. If you're not at HQ all the time, you're not in the "good ole boys network" and you're likely NOT going to come out on top at this place.
    8) Ready to let this job de-rail your career. No thanks!

    Advice to Management

Clean your house. Put in some real sales leadership. Quit deceiving prospects. Quit stringing your employees along with empty promises and deluding yourselves. Router replacements require basic features you can't even seem to build after over a year of promises.

I worked at Silver Peak Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

good people in the rank and file, some great success stories with customer wins, tech was solid. Pivot to SDWAN was a bit early but gaining momentum at the time. comp is excellent if you can hit accelerators

    Cons

horrendous management, specifically on the sales side. zero leadership. Definitely a good ol boys network. Outsiders that did unexpectedly well and challenged were worked out of the equation. Insecurities ran deep, sales culture of fear.

    Advice to Management

get out of your own way, LEAD, take some leadership courses, be professional, don't shoot the hand(s) that feed you, be honest with your team, don't high-five them and then stab them in the back.

You can tell everyone loves what they're doing and believes in the work they're doing. HUGE team environment, treats employees well, and absolutely owning the SD-WAN market

    Cons

Honestly, none that I can think of..

    Advice to Management

I worked at Silver Peak Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free catered lunch 4 days a week. Free snacks and drinks. Good employees. Flexible working hours. Insurance benefit is competitive

    Cons

Management plays favoritism very obviously. Politics is everywhere. Let go people easily. No room to grow. Many management layers in a small department.
