I have been working at Silver Peak Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, sharp people, lunch 4 days a week, flexible, achievable quotas, fair pay, and excellent products.

    Cons

Quick to let people go for poor performance and can be slow to promote. Increasingly competitive space.

    Advice to Management

Retain your best employees at all costs. Keep the all stars and reward them! On all other fronts, keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at Silver Peak Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Free lunches and good people

    Cons

Slowly getting past from a technical perspective by other companies that embrace change and age not in fear of losing their job to the newer employees that have the vision on how to build a winning team that could make SP a market player.

    Advice to Management

You will soon find that Tier 1 carriers have much deeper pockets and the tide had changed. Best of luck.

I worked at Silver Peak Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really nice product set. Very credible pivot from WANop to SD-WAN and quite possibly some differentiating competitive advantages, although the space is crowding up.

    Cons

Humorless culture of fear, particularly in marketing. Bizarre, "good old boy" management steeped in hierarchy -- an oscillation of mushroom and then micro-management, then back to mushroom. Kiss up and kick down. Way too many layers and closed doors for such a small group. Amazing bureaucracy. Execs cause a constipated workflow ("everything goes through me but I'll never really think about it") and then blame individual contributors.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up, stop taking yourselves so seriously. Stand up to the CEO - he only wants to code and would happily cede content creation if there were just a whiff of competence.

    Pros

Flexible environment, good folks. Overall, a solid place to work.

    Cons

Not much. Compensation was fair; team was great to work with. Work in the headquarters (not a remote office) if possible. Remote workers seem to struggle more.
