I worked at Silver Point Capital full-time

      Pros

The compensation is through the roof. Nice to make so much so early on in your career. Lunch is paid for everyday and they pay for your monthly gym membership. Insurance is another great perk and they pay for the vast majority of your premium.

      Cons

There is a strong divide in the back office. The folks that have been there for a while are accepting of their jobs and their nice paychecks. The folks that are just out of college or a few years out hate what they are doing and are looking for a greater breadth of opportunity (which is not welcomed by the senior guys). There was no teaching for the back office personnel.

      Advice to Management

Set programs in place to properly teach your employees. If they want to learn/grow through the firm, give them the chance.

I worked at Silver Point Capital for more than a year

      Pros

Unbelievable experience. I learned more than I ever thought I could in one summer. Such a unique internship experience that really builds a solid foundation for your career.

      Cons

No cons. Went through investor relations, spent time on the trading desk, and shadowed a senior credit analyst. Loved every minute of each department.

      Cons

location not ideal, can be a difficult firm to work for in tough times. If you're in the wrong team you could have a hard time.

      Neutral Outlook

I worked at Silver Point Capital full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Silver Point Capital was a great place to work. The people were friendly, and the office had a great vibe to it. There were a number of areas the business was focused on, and ample opportunity to get involved with the ones that matched your competency.

      Cons

The company was hiring new employees at a very fast pace. This sometimes made it difficult to get to know everyone around you, and it sometimes felt as if the pace of hiring could jeopardize the culture.

      Neutral Outlook

I worked at Silver Point Capital full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The pay is good, good location, subsidized lunch, access to pantry full of healthy snacks & drinks.

      Cons

Most directors are very unapproachable. Hours are 8 to 6 and do not promote for a work/life balance. If you don't stay late you are looked at poorly. There is no focus on teaching or mentoring, either learn it yourself or get let go. If you are an introvert, this isn't the place for you.

      Advice to Management

Focus on getting to know staff from all departments. If there is a department with a lot of turn over; find out why and look into it.
