I worked at Silver Star Brands part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You basically can set your own schedule, days off and hours. Scheduling was very accomadating of time off. This is so helpful for students, parents or others who have limited time.

The team leaders and management try to acknowledge your performance and regularly give food or have contests/prizes.

The pay is good for an entry level job.

You can leave early if work is slow enough.

You will receive regular feedback about your performance and team leaders often offer helpful, constructive criticism.

    Cons

When I left, the management was really pushing a sales first culture at the detriment of customer service. If you don't like making sales offers, then don't do sales but as a customer service agent you can feel left out because the focus is so sales driven.

The job can be very repetitive and if you need a lot of mental stimulation, you will probably go crazy after a year or two.

You are basically bound to your desk during your shift except for meetings and breaks, which can be tough.

Sometimes the team leaders had to forced to take calls when we were busy, which gives a bad impression for those fighting in the trenches!

The holiday season can be quite stressful with overtime and angry customers.

    Advice to Management

Lower the emphasis on sales a bit and offer more benefits to customer service. If you are a team leader, don't wander around and talk- it sets a seriously bad example. Keep providing the rewards, games and contests.

    Cons

Company is still in the dark ages. There is no strong leadership and people have been promoted to their level of incompetence. Company is doomed if no significant changes are made.

    Advice to Management

Change. Some of you don't belong in retail in this century.

    Pros

    people, is a solid company

    Cons

The workplace is a horrible. The corporate office is located in an old concrete building that LEAKS! Actually ceiling panels have fallen out and water has dumped down into the call center. There are buckets up in the ceilings collecting water. Some of the walls are crumbling due to the water coming down regularly.

    Advice to Management

Move! Make the owners eat the lease and move to a better secure building or build by Oakwood.

A great company where the leaders care about you as a person. One of the few places I have worked for where my opinion truly matters and there are so many opportunities for growth.

    Cons

During the busy part of the year sometimes the hours can get long but most of the time overtime is not required.

They treat their employees very well. It seems like there's always a special contest or incentive going on.
