I have been working at Silvergate Bank for less than a year

    Pros

    - Compensation and benefits are at par if not better than most similar institutions - Provides snacks, drinks, and other foods as a courtesy. This makes everyone happy to be there not to mention, saves you $. - Helpful teams are right there to help if you have any questions; Front Desk, IT, HR

    Cons

No cons directly towards the bank itself but the location's afternoon traffic is pretty bad.

I have been working at Silvergate Bank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Life is more than just pros and cons. What really matters is a sense of worth, to be part of a community and to meet all our basic needs such as safety, health and love. Working for Silvergate for the past few years has exceeded, by far, the naive equation of pros and cons. Working for the firm was a blessing to my life, my career and to my sense of worth in way that a number could not appropriately describe. Not only has my career path progressed, but I am also performing increasingly more challenging and interesting duties (which evidently result in higher compensation for the money-minded reader.) And most important, I continue to learn from management about how an ethical, humane and profitable company runs. By working for the company, I followed one of my Dad's wisdom which is "To surround yourself with people smarter than you."

    Cons

I read some of the negative comments about Silvergate. To me, it is sad testament of our society's need to constantly feel admired and praiseworthy. If I had to guess, the frustration stems from a sense of a lack of appreciation ; or perhaps of not getting a hefty bonus each quarter ; or maybe a general dissonance between what one feels he or she are entitled to and the value they are providing in practice. Those frustrations are both real and important. The problem is that they arise nowadays within a month or two after a new employee joins the firm. What happened to the concepts of to pay one's dues?

I have been working at Silvergate Bank full-time

    Pros

Silvergate Bank is more than just a great break room with lots of food. Silvergate Bank genuinely values each one of their employees. I have worked for Silvergate Bank for almost three years and I have to say it is the best company I have ever worked for. The employees are friendly, departments work together as teams, we have company gatherings, great management, volunteer opportunities & much more. Our core values here at Silvergate Bank are to work hard/have fun, act like an owner, superior service, integrity, Innovative & teamwork. I can say with confidence that every employee here follows those core values. The benefits/401K are the best benefits I have experienced in a work place. Coming to work here is like being home every day, my co-workers are like family and we have a good time at work while working hard. There is so much room for growth in this company, new positions are always being created, promotions are frequently happening. Raises & Christmas bonuses every year. I am truly grateful to work for such an amazing company with so much growth and learning opportunities. I am confident that I will have a successful future here with Silvergate Bank.

    Cons

I do not have any cons to share.

I have been working at Silvergate Bank full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Employees who are all aligned on where the bank is going. Very nimble tech startup like environment

    Cons

A lot of change makes some people uncomfortable. If you expect someone to show you what to do everyday you probably don’t belong here.

I have been working at Silvergate Bank full-time for less than a year

    Pros

innovative, able to quickly implement ideas. SGB has shown a profit for many years even when other banks were in trouble or not doing well. I tend to look at the path of a company historically and future path. This firm does well in both aspects. I have worked at Fortune 50 companies and Silvergate does Best in Class along with the highest ranked public firms. Highly Recommend

    Cons

If you want a company where you just show up, create discord, and get a paycheck perhaps this is not for you. Employees are highly valued and expected to Act Like an Owner, which (reading that review from May) clearly is not for everyone.

I have been working at Silvergate Bank full-time

    Pros

Free food... Sad that that's the only pro that i can think of.

    Cons

Executive team will look you straight in the eye and tell you one thing, but then they're turn around and do something else. If you want to succeed, then support the people that work for you. Don't stab them in the back. I see other reviews that call the company and exec team corrupt and I believe it. They've had a revolving door of personnel in certain positions for as many years as I can remember. Hmm.. I used to think that maybe they hired the wrong people, but now I realize it's that they conspire against new people even if they do it unknowingly. It's a shame. They expect to take the company public, but I can't imagine how they'll do that since they're building a reputation that is one of distrust... I look forward to their IPO so that i'll be able to short their stock shortly thereafter.
