I have been working at Simmons & Simmons full-time

    Pros

    Very friendly and personable individuals.

    Cons

Caught in-between the magic circle thoroughbreds and the cheaper international firms.

    Pros

The IT dept of this Law firm are now on the right track to utilise IT to it's fullest potential and seem fair to their employees.

    Cons

The Virtualisation platform is hosted so manageability is limited.

    Advice to Management

Listen to and include IT staff in the future stagegic plans.

I worked at Simmons & Simmons as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team to work alongside, was able to learn quite a bit. They have a robust business model and everyone works tirelessly in their positions.

    Cons

Fairly small operation out of the Middle East, and during a particularly busy time there were moments where I did not have enough to do.

I have been working at Simmons & Simmons as an intern

    Pros

It's a global law firm, so you can be part of a team that works on global deal, like IPOs or M&A deals.
Working hours are ok and the senior lawyers are very friendly and most of them try to teach the interns as much as they can.

    Cons

Choose any other month rather then august for a work experience if you want to see and get involved with the real work, because august is realy calm and most of the europe is on vacation.

I worked at Simmons & Simmons as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are extremely friendly and nice, including partners, associates, trainees and the graduate recruitment team. No one was intimidating or aggressive.

Absolutely loved the planning done by the firm and the graduate recruitment, like matching us with our first preference departments for work-shadowing sessions, and enabling us to network with associates in our second preference departments. The farewell event was also well executed.

    Cons

The office environment can be improved, such as the design of the pantry area. I don't know why they have vending machines for coffee and snacks.

    Advice to Management

The internship scheme was absolutely fantastic. The firm should look into the possibility of increasing the length of the scheme.

    Pros

I really enjoyed working at the Firm, the people were easy-going, company is non-hierarchical for a top-tier law firm. It pays contractors very reasonably,

    Cons

The office is not too well-lit.

I have been working at Simmons & Simmons full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Top end client base in the asset management divisions built on the successful hedge fund practice, but over the last 2 years has built an unprecedented client base across different asset management clients. A very good banking and insurance client base rivalling the magic circle. A level of quality, reassurance and integrity respecxted by those that come in contact with the firm. Market profile is bigger than revenues suggest, a collecgiate culture that fosters a friendly environment and good work life balance. Leadership and business development plans now coming to fruition.Based on a meritocracy - if you do a job well, you get recognised.

    Cons

Can be siloed (there again what law firm isn't), can think about own department too much and not what is right for everyone. Can over plan and not think about implementation and delivery, can have the wrong people doing the wrong job..too many people in HR
