I worked at Simon Golub & Sons (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people in the corporate office was great! Easy to work with and were open to new changes within processes and new system. Love the fact that they allowed me to be the best as I can be and was supportive in all levels. With the quote, "Hire smart people and let them do their best and get out of their way", it's true in this environment where I felt successful.

    Cons

Sometimes all Execs and managers were too hands off. And when some who wants to be hands on tend to cause more problems.

    Advice to Management

No advice as the company have been sold and acquired.

I worked at Simon Golub & Sons (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Small, tight group of people.

    Cons

Hands were always tied regarding purchasing merchandise and stocking shelves. Management didn't want to spend money to make money.

I worked at Simon Golub & Sons (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None! Other than most the people there are hard working awesome people.

    Cons

Worst employment experience ever! Threats, harassment, racism, discrimination, intimidation....you name it, it was happening. And worst of all from HR and management so you had no where to go. Not only that, the treatment of customers was appalling.

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves and allow for new management to take over.

I have been working at Simon Golub & Sons full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You get to work with great people.

    Cons

Poor leadership at the executive level. Constantly in a transitional phase. Lots of uncertainty about the future of the company. No reviews or wage increases, lots of promises but no action.

    Pros

The recent hires in 2014/2015 were great to work with. They came with skill and knowledge to help move the company forward. However, many of the employees who had worked there for years may have product knowledge they did not have other skills to move the company forward. Thus the talented employees left.

    Cons

Executive staff was unsure of the direction of themselves much less the company. It is truly a way for those from India to get to America. They are not invested in the America worker or business. No direction from the Executive team. Very poor leadership.

    Advice to Management

Always put ethics first, you can always work someplace else. Put the key in the door and end the misery.

I worked at Simon Golub & Sons full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None. Basically I showed up to just collect a paycheck while I looked for better opportunities.

    Cons

Poor management style. No clear direction on what direction they want to take to grow the business. The company may be expendible just to get the new Indian owners a place to start in the U.S. Executives are all salesman, I cant tell you how many times that I was stumped by their reasoning. I am an executive, been for over twenty years and succsessful, companies can not be lead by yes men"aka sales people". No growth plans, no notice of technology, no notice of different markets to take advantage of with their products.

    Advice to Management

Just pack it up and leave, oh wait, you have packed up but just havent shut the door yet. I put money on SGS going out of business within 4 years tops. It is just a way of foreign investors to enter the U.S. market.

I have been working at Simon Golub & Sons (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get to know the people you work with and the people you work for really well. Small teams, employee potlucks and activities.

    Cons

Departments are now too small. Cost cutting is hurting the overall business. Management seems nonchalant to major issues affecting the business.

    Cons

A lot of turn over recently, but definite stability coming to light.
