Significant improvement since '20 but so much more room to grow

Jul 26, 2022 - Senior Consultant in San Francisco, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - People: colleagues I will actually hang out with outside of work (not a cutthroat culture) - World Meeting: yearly meeting where all employees gather for a week of workshops + fun (Madrid this year) - Merit-based growth opportunities: No strict quota of who can get promoted vs. who can't given the firm is growing fast. As a result, you don't feel like you're competing against peers - Pay is now more competitive with tier 1 management consulting firms

    Cons

    - Project types: still quite niche in terms of pricing, packaging, and sales strategy - Brand recognition: still viewed as a tier 2/3 firm - Leadership delays: lots of dependencies and takes leadership a while to make decisions and implement initiatives, which is surprising given we are considered a smaller consulting firm - Bonuses: still way lower than competition - Recruiting: recruiting process and organization needs vast improvement. Critical when our #1 resource is talent

Dramatic pay increases make this a top choice

    Pros

Comp has increased ~30% across all roles in the past year. Pay is in line with other firms, with a better culture/WLB vs. T1/2 consulting firms.

    Cons

    Long hours are still long.

    Pros

The people and inclusivity as SKP is undeniable. Great initiatives that the organization is working on.

    Cons

There are a ton of manual processes that need to be digitalized.

Great first job out of college - good pay, good development

    Pros

Lots of feedback, lots of room to develop skills. I'm in LS, and I've developed my knowledge, market research, and critical thinking skills since joining. I think I'm much more valuable of an employee than I was a year ago. Huge perk is the promotion set up. Since the firm is growing, there isn't a cap on the number of people who can get promoted, so everyone is evaluated individually. This makes it easy to collaborate with / root for colleges and develop high level performance while avoiding toxic competition. Also, recent positive changes to compensation have been very significant. Pay is now quite competitive for consulting.

    Cons

It can be hard with rough hours at times, but generally par for the course with consulting. Also, it can be frustrating at time when you know your firm does good work but the brand awareness isn't what it could be. I don't think it hurts the exit opportunities, but there are certainly people who haven't heard of the firm.
