    I have been working at Simon-Kucher & Partners full-time

    Pros

+ flat hierarchy is not only promoted but actually lived, great people without backstabbing! + interesting international projects - even though pricing seems to be quite narrow at first, its a very strategic topic + traveling dependent on division and project. In average probably 2-3 days a week.

    Cons

    - work life balance is definitly worse than I expected it. 70-80h is not something which is unusual. - for the hours you put in, the pay is simply not very good. - promotions seem to take much longer than promoted at first

    Advice to Management

    # try to motivate your employees a bit more. Something has to change: either pay, work-life balance or appreciation for their work (in terms of promotions)

    I worked at Simon-Kucher & Partners full-time

    Pros

    - The people make it worth it, there are some real characters in the office - Huge diversity of projects across different industries - A chance to become an expert on pricing - Senior leadership is excellent

    Cons

    - Long hours (but that comes with the territory and the hours are better than other firms) - Sometimes the company overall feels 'overly' german

    I worked at Simon-Kucher & Partners

    Pros

Open door policy - makes it very easy to ask questions if your unsure of how to proceed or having difficulties with a task. Friendly working environment - usually you will be eating lunch with your division members and can get to know them on a more personal level. Responsibility from the start - SKP make sure that there are projects with which interns can help although there were occasions when some were put on excel sheet duty. Business knowledge - you get a very detailed insight into projects and pricing mechanisms whilst working there. No unreasonable working hours - if a deadline is imminent you will have to work late otherwise expect to work normal hours.

    Cons

Choice of which intern is designated to which project is arbitrary at times. Best to find out in the interview round what work will await you. A very specialized consultancy and not the place to be if you want to acquire a general feel for management consulting because it will be heavy on sales and marketing, especially pricing. Very cost conscientious. The cost allowance for meals etc. is enough but will not have you screaming for joy.

    Advice to Management

In particular regarding interns the company relies too heavily on recruiting from WHU and EBS, two well-known business schools in Germany. Try and mix it up a little more.

"A good place to work but with some drawbacks"

I have been working at Simon-Kucher & Partners

    Pros

Highly specialized on pricing and sales. Good reputation in Germany. Nice people. Less travel than competitors. Fast growing. Good promotion schedule.

    Cons

Many partners lack leadership skills. Number of C-level projects is rather limited due to very narrow scope of projects on pricing and sales.

    Advice to Management

Establish longterm career plans for individuals. Build-up an HR department. Work on leadership skills of partners. Expand the scope of projects.

I have been working at Simon-Kucher & Partners

    Pros

Small company growing in niche market (pricing), has an international expansion strategy in all types of industries. . . .

    Cons

All the usual downsides of a small company : no formal processes, too much freedom given to the partners who see consultants as disposable

    Advice to Management

    No comment . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
