I have been working at Simplyhealth full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The business strategy is clear and is moving in the right direction considering the change in the working environment and market.
The people are all supportive, which is needed for growth

    Cons

Some big changes took place to change the strategy and some employees don't adapt well to change which can affect overall morale

    Advice to Management

Be more visible - spend time with grass roots employees to get to know their issues

I have been working at Simplyhealth full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company have recognised the need to adapt and behave like a start-up in the healthcare arena. Senior management are driving large change projects around IT and product offerings.
The people here are really friendly and lots of the staff members have worked here for over 10 years.

    Cons

Not the best location and the teams are split across 3 sites - although they are within walking distance from each other.

    Advice to Management

Make yourselves more visible. Host monthly Q&As, or come and visit staff in other departments.

I have been working at Simplyhealth full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love that Simplyhealth is a mutual company and has no shareholders. This means they either reinvest their profits into the business for the good of the customers or donate them to health related charities. Having worked for shareholders who work you into the ground, Simplyhealth makes a refreshing change.

Simplyhealth promote a good work life balance for employees, offer decent pay and quite a lot of little perks, such as free fruit once a month. They offer a pleasant working environment, which they are always striving to improve.

    Cons

Like most modern employees, I welcome change, but Simplyhealth tinkers with their internal structure too much. Don't expect to stay at a desk or keep the same manager for very long.

    Advice to Management

Stop tinkering with the internal structure and trust your excellent staff get on with their jobs.

    Pros

Reasonable benefits - mainly healthcare. Friendly colleagues in general.
You can work 9-5 no problem - no expectation to overwork yourself - good for home life.

    Cons

Its either Winchester or Andover as a location.
Senior mgt rep is patchy - some very good - some find f2f stuff difficult.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Simplyhealth (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice offices and good locations
    Great flexibility and work/life balance
Good employee packages, even for contractors

    Cons

Lack of strategic direction and lack of faith in leadership from within
Very cliquey. I thought all was going brilliantly until I was informed in a 1-1 with my team leader that my work was excellent but that other people in my team didn't like me. As someone with bad social anxiety, this was pretty much the beginning of the end for me. Everything fell apart after that because I couldn't get out of the downward spiral being told this so insensitively put me into, and even though I loved the work I chose not to apply when my contract role opened up for applications as a permanent position. I LOVED the work and felt I'd really found my niche, but I felt so uncomfortable with the people and environment. I go to work to earn money, not to be best friends with everyone, and I felt that this was expected of me. I found things very unprofessional and if I didn't join in on social events because of workload it was severely frowned upon. I've never worked anywhere like it. Some people may like that sort of thing, but it's not for me. If you don't fit in 100% then don't expect to feel welcome.

    Advice to Management

Cliques in the workplace are not okay and only serve to isolate people. You lose good people that way. Also, people constantly complained leadership was not visible. Get out there and really listen to what your employees want and need. There are some brilliant ideas out there.
