I have been working at Simpson Strong-Tie part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent management. Great training. Work place environment very enjoyable. Employees help each other. Fun department parties. Friendly co-workers. Quarterly bonuses something to look forward to. This is a company to stay.

    Cons

I can't think of many cons for working at branch 23. It has been a wonderful experience. There are some employees who have been at the same job for close to 10 years. There needs to be a career path for these people so they don't get stale at their jobs.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Advice to Management

Hire from the outside for the next few

    Pros

There are great people working here. Pay is pretty good.

    Cons

Facing growing pains. There are two sets of expectations - one for management and another for production.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. It is time to stop talking about the secret sauce and show it.

I have been working at Simpson Strong-Tie full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Like many others, when I started with Simpson I had an opportunity for a higher paying job. I passed on the money simply because of the culture I saw within Simpson. in my many years here I have always felt as though people are taking care of people. Helping lift each other up rather than trying to elevate oneself over others.

    Cons

There are individuals within the organization that resist change, and sometimes that resistance does lead to people or practices in place longer than they should

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. the company is heading in the right direction and taking care of it's employees, customers and shareholders while doing so.

    I worked at Simpson Strong-Tie full-time

    Pros

Cash profit sharing and medical, dental, vision benefits (to some extent)

    Cons

    1. Outdated technology & conservative business practices at branch level
    2. Extremely CYA type of environment in the office
    3. Arrogant and inexperienced leadership at branch level
    4. Definitely not a place for enthusiastic/high potential people because innovation, creativity, and problem solving is not appreciated at Br 23 (not sure how things are at other North American branches). In fact, leadership wants their employees to be nodding sycophants.

    Advice to Management

Stop running the branch like its a dictatorship. Barclay must be turning in his grave because his principles are now just a decorative picture in the lobby area. Leadership chants about how great he was. So please practice what you preach!

    I worked at Simpson Strong-Tie full-time

    Pros

Great if you are in the IT dpt. and just keep your head down.

    Cons

Everything is CYA mentality, and they are taking on any program out there to track project progress, that takes hours of time to deal with weekly, rather than getting to work and focusing on customer service and quality innovation of products.

    Advice to Management

    Arrogance isn't productive.
