I worked at Singtel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stable work environment. Decent remuneration, performance bonuses and increment on a yearly basis.

    Cons

My job scope was limited and lacked challenge. I got the general feeling that the middle management folks were more focused on their own political agenda then proper business objectives. Thus, the overall work culture lacks the collaborative spirit and growth mentality. Many of the them have risen up the ranks through the years, so they have gotten complacent with their job and lack the perspective of what is happening out of Singtel.

    Advice to Management

No doubt the company recognises those who has contributed over the years and is proud of their long time contributors. But it is also fair to review their skills and knowledge so they are on par with their peers out of the Singtel-sphere. Open up more to listen and observe what the new blood has got to say and offer. It's a pity when you have talents who wants to do more but got turned down because the old timers will set up red-tapes and have reservations about ideas for improvement, instead of championing them.

    I worked at Singtel full-time

    Pros

Staff benefits e.g. Staff discounts for mobile / home plans and activities by SRC
    Centralized office location
    Local MNC
    Staff canteens
    Cheap bike parking

    Cons

    Stifling environment
Terrible culture (many have warned me prior to joining but I really couldn't understand how terrible can it get until I joined) Manifestation of such human interaction and behavior is really uniquely Singtel
    Poor onboarding, even poorer offboarding

    Advice to Management

I wished you treated your staff with more dignity and respect.

I worked at Singtel as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Staff Rate for mobile plans

    Cons

management does not support and empower agents with an SOP that they support. If SOP is followed, Managers do not support staff when a complaint form customer arises. No transparency from HR about contract renewal until the last week of the end of contract

    Advice to Management

Know the process and support your team. HR should learn transparency

I worked at Singtel as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Very forward-looking in terms of technology, fun people in the marcoms department, pleasant time interning there

    Cons

Management was made up sometimes of old-school conservatives, contradicts this 'embracing innovation and diversity' notion they were going for

    Advice to Management

Be more open, not selectively open. If you want diversity, it comes in all forms, nationality, sexual orientation etc. Don't be neutral on issues where the moral thing to do would be to take a stand, hopefully on the right side.

    Pros

Consistent business performance and reliable remuneration for most (depending on departments)

    Cons

Nature of industry means certain business departments are subject to retrenchment risks.

Good starting base can be misleading as AWS is incorporated, and year on year increments are average to poor.

    Pros

The team is very nice and overall very good learnings from top and senior leadership. Good pay and promotion opportunities as well.

    Cons

I cannot really think of cons, but probably only that difficult to change. Some historical issues and need to fix before further growth.
