    Pros

    -The other people are fun
    -Get to watch sports and get paid for it
    -Opportunity to work on sports talk shows and eventually produce shows

    Cons

    -Difficult to obtain full-time
    -They expect you to work weekends and some holidays especially when you're new

    Advice to Management

    -Have more opportunities to work full-time in sports. This would boost the morale of the department and would allow people to stay at Sirius long term.

    I worked at SiriusXM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The company itself is great. They provide good benefits and one perk- which is free SiriusXM radio subscription online and in your car.
    Free sodas and pretzels. And water machine (goes down frequently though)
    Once in a blue they hold a company wide lottery for tickets- great, if you actually win.
    Once a year they give free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
    And also a bbq (food should be ordered from differently place, not so good) aside from that a Halloween and 2 hour Christmas party.

    From the traffic dept perspective, the pros of this department is truly the work experience you gain and the connections you make. Even though the title is coordinator, every single person who is a coordinator there does the work of a manager. It’s a fast paced and high volume environment, so the experience you come across is a great plus for your career. Currently The coordinators are the best part of this department because they all work together regardless of how busy or even the pressure from management. Those coordinators are absolutely amazing in their positions, definitely deserve more, treat you like family and has been my biggest heartbreak when I left them for a better opportunity.

    SiriusXM pays very well for traffic coordinators, $53K avg, so if you’re in it for the money do it, but make sure you see my cons below first.

    Cons

    The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. And this is especially true of the traffic dept. it’s a high volume work environment so yes it can be stressful. The work stress isn’t the problem. It’s the constant micromanagement. Your 5 minutes late it’s a problem. You are 30 minutes early everyday, and if you are not at your desk EXACTLY at 9am, its a problem. You wanna take time off? Have fun and good luck because aside from the insane amount of blackout weeks (considering it’s a big team) you can’t take a 5 day vacation from week to week. For example a Thursday to wed. It MUST be M-F. Moving on, if an email comes in, within 2 minutes of you receiving the email you have 3 different people in management asking you if you saw the email. There’s people in management that want the best for you however don’t give you the chance to actually manage your own work. For example, if you tell me to do something, I will get right to it usually within a few minutes, so why if you asked me to do something, do you go in behind me and do the very task yourself? In other news, the workspace is terrible!!!!!! You’re in a bench, open work area seating. No cubicles, no privacy. Someone always eavesdropping on your conversations, and hovering over your screen. Not to mention the insane amount of distractions because yes it gets very loud. There’s a manager that you can seriously hear her down the hall and has no sensor whatsoever. People who say the don’t want to blame anyone (yet they’ve probably already written someone up with little to no research. So every week there’s a new process that trumps last weeks process but WAIT theres exceptions to that “PROCESS”. In my opinion, the worse thing happening currently in that department is that you have a manager who does not know the functions of a coordinators work but yet always has something to say about HOW they do their work. And that same person is also highly defended for reasons I just do not understand because it most certainly doesn’t reflect in their work. This person cannot fully perform a coordinators work on his own and really is a shame. Your personal issues is up at someone’s judgement, I’m guessing whether it’s important enough for you to work from home. Your house is flooding somewhere? Waiting on plumber? Well NOPE you can’t work from home so take some of your time off. Yes, SiriusXM pays very well for coordinators but you can’t pay someone off for their sanity, because that’s exactly what you’re giving up here. I’ve have learned many things here, including how NOT to be a manager. It really needs to stop being a managers vs coordinator environment because that department really has great potential.

    On the company note, their cons are not being able to rollover vacations. So if you don’t use it, you lose it. Oh and the company CLEARLY doesn’t take certain accusations as seriously as they say they do.

    Advice to Management

    Your team is not for you, YOU are for your team. Watch your mouth and what comes out of it. As much as you guys think you are doing right by that department, you are wrong and your high turnover rate should be a clear example that your people, your team is not happy. You want people to stay and grow within the team an company but constantly scrutinize them and build these strict barriers which makes it very hard to come to work motivated everyday. Open up, be more flexible. People like flexibility.

    Many things truly need to change to make it a welcome and comfortable environment to be in. Starting with the removal of useless bodies pretending to work. Those blackout dates are insane, open up the calendar. Get these people cubicles for crying out loud, we are GROWN, not in highschool, not as clerks as you say but yet we are on a CLERK Environment.

    The new york office is very fast pace. Business keeps trying to sneak extra tickets into release and blames devices when something goes wrong.

    There is not much room for advancement, try to keep eye and ears open

    - Goal set for your department
    - Plan ahead in order to retain good employees
    - Work on incentives and training to expand employees' duties/ company goals

    Pros

    A lot of famous celebrities walk through the doors of Sirius XM. It can also be a fun environment and depending on the show you may work for, fan interaction and involvement can be pretty rewarding

    Cons

    Low Salaries. I believe the company does not truly have the interests of their employees at heart. They lose a lot of good, hardworking, talent people because they refuse to pay them the money they deserve. They know that someone will work for the rate they offer, though that person will more than likely not be as smart or talented as their original employee. Also, low ceiling of career advancement.

    Pay your employees more.

    Entry Level is less work. CRUMBS. But once you land this job keep applying for opportunities. Keep your mind on the prize. Always take notes and never settle.
