I worked at SiriusXM (More than a year)

    Pros

great location, paid internship which is rare, many interns get hired there. My mentor was great, patient, gave me work to do so I was rarely bored, and let me take initiative when I wanted to.

    Cons

The environment felt off, the people seemed fake, according to employees they work really hard and long for little pay, depending on the boss you may have a positive or negative experience.

    Advice to Management

let employees shine, try not to over burden them.

I worked at SiriusXM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you want to learn the latest technology this is great place to work.

    Cons

This is a cut throat environment, that management supports . The truth is dead at SiriusXM. Employees are expected to work late into the night and weekends with out compensation. Late night and weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are standard. There is no work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Stand up for employees, SiriusXM iwork environment is not sustainable; Churn and burn! Everyday you come to work you are not sure if you work a full day or be fired

I have been working at SiriusXM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome learning experience. Hands-on experience working closely with my supervisor on contracts & updating corporate financial data.
    Flexible hours, great supervisor.
    Extremely detail oriented company.

    Cons

If you don't live in D.C. the commute is pretty hard- at most you can work 20 hours per week so it's hard to make it work.
A position opened up that required 1-3 years experience that seemingly would make a great transition for an intern. I spoke to the hiring manager and she said that I need to get more experience before I would be able to get passed the interview round. Serious doubts about my capabilities even though they have me right here, once desk away from the department that's hiring.
Only 5 interns (outside of the radio industry) have transitioned into full-time positions at SXM.

    Advice to Management

Offer pay for drive time if commute is beyond 30 minutes or bump up the hourly pay to compensate for 4 hours of driving per day.
Set up the internships for the jobs being offered at the company- create a junior position that can transition interns into full-time employees. Why wouldn't you want to groom interns for a job opening? Or at least to be able to qualify for a full-time job opening?

I have been working at SiriusXM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent. Benefits, paid vacation for full time employees, bonus potential, very good 401k plan, stock grants...

    Cons

Senior Management is filled with angry chimpanzees. Stagnant upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Yelling at your employees like they are your cocker spaniel that just shat on your rug is probably not the best way to motivate people.

I worked at SiriusXM part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Might open you up to some new opportunities; can, in rare times, be exciting

    Cons

Bad pay, bad hours. My management happened to be great, but several other managers are really not. HR does NOT have anything together whatsoever. I was a valued employee and I asked for a raise after a year and a half of working there and my manager tried very hard to secure one for me, but corporate does not want to give raises. In general, production staff is treated badly and corporate does not reward their talented employees. It's decently thankless work, too.
