I have been working at SirsiDynix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

We always have fun activities and monthly auctions using points that other people give you as a thank you. The support center is not a call center.

    Cons

They don't always very jalapeño smear on free bagel day.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of the support department. We are treated really well but we need a few more people.

    I worked at SirsiDynix full-time

    Pros

    Good culture

Happy people. Developers were friendly and helpful. Made me feel like I was part of a good team always

Fun activities (And lots of them)

    Cons

    Pay isn't competitive

I did not enjoy my time working as a tester
The QA managers were extremely unhelpful. Very poor leadership
The advancement was slow to none with no conversation on why or what could be improved on. Basically very poor communication skills
The other testers I worked with were arrogant yet unskilled. I knew I did not want to stay as a lifer at Sirsi and become like them. But the skills gained at Sirsi helped me with my current job. I had to learn these skills myself as no training was provided by the QA department. More people should have spoken up about the issues in QA but I wish Sirsi luck with this in the future

A lot of scrum masters were too inexperienced (they are working on this)

I agree with the other reviews on:
    health insurance was too high

    Advice to Management

Management outside of QA did a great job, no complaints there
When I bought up issues, it was always resolved (almost instantly). Even though I did not get my way every time, I was just glad someone listened and followed up

    I worked at SirsiDynix full-time

    Pros

Good software, innovative solutions, global support, industry expertise and strong existing customer base. Strong in Public Sector and quick to respond to clients.

    Cons

Poor local leadership in the UK has resulted in low staff morale and what used to be a confident happy environment, has now developed a bit of a blame culture

    Advice to Management

engage with staff and take direct feedback from clients on where they market is going. Instead of trying to sell what you have, understand what clients need

A lot of flexibility with schedule, easy to change departments, lots of fun activities (really, really good activities). Management are easy-going and approachable.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Try to be more aggressive with salaries to retain talent.

I worked at SirsiDynix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The product managers were great to work with

People at sirsi had great personalities. Some of the friendliest people I've worked with

There were some great managers/directors! Was glad to work with Mike Russell and Jeff Goodwin

    Cons

The software engineers have to take on too many roles. Just because engineers are capable of writing documentation, testing software, and training scrum masters doesn't mean we want to all the time. I don't mind stepping in from time to time but not as frequent as i had to

    Customer expectations were really demanding

Leadership in QA was never great. This included recent managers and past ones. It reflected in the testers I've worked with. I've talked to a few QA managers, don't seem to have a solid grip on what's going on

There was no release cycle consistency across products, this could get frustrating at times

Ultimately it was the pay that was the deciding factor for me not to stay
