I worked at SiteMinder full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some of the best people you will ever meet. Company provided fruits, cereals etc. Friday drinks.

    Cons

Very poor management who lack people skills and are very unapproachable. The management team seem to look out for their own and there was very little engagement with staff. Career progression became difficult if you did not play into their games and office politics. Management treat good hard working people as a resource and not an asset.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately the service delivery management team seemed to be beyond help.

I worked at SiteMinder full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friday drinks Sometimes snacks provided The people you work with directly are great

    Cons

Employees made to feel more like a number than a valued worker. Very high turnover and external hires rather than retaining current employees. Very low morale around the office when it used to be a great energy. Huge tensions between teams with nothing in place or any efforts made to resolve this. Management not trained to properly support workers in more practical ways such as career progression or management... of work loads. Upper management very disconnected to the rest of the office . Departments very separated both physically and professionally. Changes made constantly without consulting those who will be affected the most. Feedback doesn't seem to go anywhere, just gets dismissed. Wish I could say more positive things but ultimately was very unhappy working for SiteMinder

    Advice to Management

Trust your workers that know what they are doing and will know what's best to make practical improvements, not just changes for the sake of changes. There's a huge problem with morale company wide that is not being genuinely addressed and will ultimately lead to less productivity and more people leaving

I have been working at SiteMinder full-time

    Pros

I have been working with SiteMinder for 5+ years. I had a mixed journey in SiteMinder. I had a massive gain in knowledge and experience, but also didn't get roles to feed my passion and no one seem to care about it too(may be time to leave ;). --Young, dynamic fast paced environment. --Very friendly and approachable senior management. --Tons of very nice people. --Great Products. Market leaders.... --Ambitious and aspiring company, has abundance potential to grow further. --Senior Management is aware of the areas of improvement, and they are continuously working to improve things. Some to mention, parental leave, work flexibility(work from home), wedding bonus, breakfast etc (these benefits were initially not available). --Friday Beers, daily breakfast fruits etc --Ping Pong, snooker, x-box, and other board games.

    Cons

--High employee turn around. --Some middle-level managers act as a huge bureaucracy wall and are very shallow. --Very limited 'internal' career progression, many suitable roles offered to external candidates(especially in service delivery). --Very limited employee skill development. --Socialising on Friday drinks seems to be the primary tool for internal career progression!. Nepotism :( --Annual salary review... is a joke(usually around 0.7% to max 2%) --Different business units are isolated. Example, very limited communication between product team and service delivery(though it has improved slightly in the recent time). --HR(people and culture) team's primary task is recruitment. Would be nice they also focus on HR related issues. Usually takes months to get answers, even on simple matters. Advice to Job Seeker: It's not Google, but it's definitely better than 90% of other companies. It's not perfect, but it's getting there. I strongly believe it will reach there soon.

    Advice to Management

-->Please start some kind of communication loop customer facing staff. Real picture will be from there, and not from the middle managers. -->Please promote internal candidates who deserve. -->Great organisations are built by good employees. May be, invest more in your employees. ---- "" CFO: What happens if we train them and they leave? CEO: What happens if we don’t and they stay? "" ---- Hope my CEO/CFO... will have this above conversation soon ;)

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at SiteMinder full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Benefits Free drinks on Friday Flexibility Some very nice people

    Cons

If there's nothing to do you just sit there and wait that the time goes No career progression cause they keep promoting their own friends Managers and Team Leaders are not clear about the future of London Office since they recently opened a new one in Galway and a few Seniors and Managers have already been asked to move to Ireland The initial training is very disappointing

    Advice to Management

Be clear, Stop promoting your favourites and give some credit to other people.

I have been working at SiteMinder full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great team culture, great products to work with. Strong market position.

    Cons

Limited career progression, top down communication is non-existent. Multiple KPI's make micromanagement inevitable. What starts out as a positive experience becomes very painful quickly.

    Advice to Management

Review the metrics that you grade your staff on. Service delivery, sales and support spend most of their time logging and collecting data to make your reporting clearer as opposed to their core functions. For the company to flourish, you want them committed and rewarded for fulfilling their sales or service objectives.

    Pros

Great Culture. Great location, Great team environment. SiteMinder offers an excellent solution for accommodation providers. The product is well designed and well thought out. Sales Managers have your well being at utmost importance allowing for a good work/life balance. As the strongest player in the market, selling SiteMinder services are enjoyable. There are many product developments happening which will... assist in the sell and penetrating deeper into the market.

    Cons

Australian market is becoming saturated making for less selling opportunities. There is no foreseeable career progression. The company needs to invest in more employee skill development. Internal politics are making the workplace noticeably more uncomfortable. Commission pay outs have to go through far too many hoops before they are finally received. It really limits your true earning potential.

    Advice to Management

Invest in more individual development. Listen more to front line staff to identify what is really needed in the business.
