Pros
I've only recently started a new position with the firm but I'm very impressed so far. My entire career has been in a legal support capacity so, although new, I think I'm able to fairly assess where Skadden falls in the community. The culture is simultaneously very professional and personable. I've worked for other firms where the environment between attorneys and professional staff was very divisive and contemptuous - Skadden is not that. I feel like my role/contributions are valued and respected. The perks are great for all personnel, the compensation is competitive, and colleagues are a delight. It's easy to see why nearly everyone I've met so far has been with the firm for a very long time.
Cons
None so far. Work trickles in quickly sometimes (as can be expected) but it's always interesting.

Pros
There are wonderful people who work here!
Cons
The administration is changing and not for the better, the COVID policies seem incongruent and there are numerous staffing and management issues. Since returning from working remotely during COVID there are very different expectations of the staff: EAs are routinely (daily) asked to leave their desks and be receptionists on the 11th floor; Attorneys are not in the office 3x a week as they've been instructed/asked; administrative positions are filled internally (people are moved into new positions) without the fully transparent and open procedure that used to be conducted; EAs are expected to be in the office 3 days a week, yet several are allowed to work remote fulltime and there's no communication regarding the situations, their duration or expected changes (or not); as EAs retire or leave their attorneys are assigned to those remaining so that EAs support more attorneys every year (10+); and Partner/Attorney bonuses have increased over the past two years and yet the annual staff pay increase and holiday bonus have, across the board, been less than the years before. More changes are coming in July, but we don't yet know what they are and I am doubtful they will be positive, or restore confidence and moral.

Pros
Good place to work as long as they leave you alone.
Cons
They don't really know the job and they make you write your own evaluation. They have a lot of favoritism and they don't listen to you unless you are good in with them. That's why today they went from 7 floors to 2 floors. They waste a lot of money on rediculous things and they do lay offs at least once a year around August. You feel like you are always at the edge of your seat. They also don't have any good management practices.

Pros
Working in accounting is very busy and has poor collaboration. Employees are speechless to eliminate a chance been judged or criticized.
Cons
It really depends on the department manager how they treat and make positive relationships and a happy team.
