I have been working at Skagen Designs part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount is 50% off generally. The teams are passionate and well driven. Very organized workplace.

    Cons

Compnay does not like to promote internally. Mostly hire externals for higher positions.

    Advice to Management

Low volume store. If you do not have patience, this store is not for you. Very slow at times. Sometimes 2-4 hours pass and 0 people enter the store.

I worked at Skagen Designs part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Laid back
    Steady hours
    Fair management
    Discounts are amazing
    Understanding

    Cons

Wage was a little above average but not by much
    The store was small
Getting anything repaired was always a hassle
They always hire outside for management so don't count on moving on up from your starting position.

    Advice to Management

Come up with a better business plan that keeps these stores alive and intact. And give some associates a chance and hire management from within

I worked at Skagen Designs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great perks liks quarterly bonus if numbers are met for all employees not just the sales team. Also, free watches.

    Cons

There is not a lot of room to grow with the planning and purchasing departments. The managers have been there a long time and are not going anywhere. You also have to work a retail sale for at least one day every year which some people did not enjoy.

    Advice to Management

I would ask senior management to be more mindful of lesser employees and thier needs for growth.

  8. "Awesome place if you are in the fashion design field - not so good for everyone else"

    Pros

If you love fashion and design, this place is for you. Henrik Jorst is a pretty cool guy and his design team produces some unique stuff right in Reno, NV of all places. You get to be first in line at the quarterly warehouse sale!

    Cons

If you are a business professional, this place will seem like a circus or a zoo to you sometimes. This is also a small privately held business and you will be interacting with the owners sometimes - I don’t find that situation desirable, because you are sometimes at the mercy of whimsy with no due process. Compensation package is wanting.

    Advice to Management

Separate the design and business offices. Give the business staff room to execute industry best practices.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep the communication lines open.
