    Pros

Opportunity for continuous education is excellent. Interesting work for one of the largest construction companies in America. You meet some great people.

    Cons

Simply too chaotic with too much expected within the normal work hours. NO training as to the day to day operations. You are expected to know how everything runs from day one. The disconnect between management and field workers is a huge problem that creates a very unsafe working environment.. So busy that there is no time for real life. Benefits are average, no better than a small company, minus the SEOP program.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting engineers who sit in offices dictate the pace of work day. Let guys in the field have more time to work and less time doing computer/paperwork.

    Pros

Great company with top notch reputation, high profile projects and A+ people in the industry. Benefits are also above average.

    Cons

It's construction - it's a high stress, fast paced environment. You will likely be expected to relocate.

    Pros

Opportunity to work on a variety of big projects. My manager was very supportive which helped me blend easily into the workplace. All the employees are very experienced and so you can learn a lot from them

    Cons

The only downside of working here is that its not located in a big city and the projects are mainly in small towns so there is no life after work.

    Pros

The company works of great projects that will allow you to learn a lot, and some of the people in the field are great.

    Cons

The hours are ridiculous. Good luck having a personal life because you will be working morning, noon, and night. Favoritism and nepotism runs rampant in this company. Don't expect to get ahead unless you are part of the "clique".

You have to move with the work, which is not always convenient, but if you are looking to travel and see different places its not so bad

    Pros

Coworkers are highly intelligent and enjoyable to work with and be around. No day is ever the same as the next. Company offers countless training programs and opportunities to grow as an employee. Unlike many other companies in the industry, Skanska offers straight time pay for weekend work. If you need to leave earlier for a doctors appointment, management is typically fine with it. Most job site offer free lunch or pizza Fridays. Benefits are pretty good, stock options are fairly good, bonus' each year are not bad with the exception of this current year. Company offers five sick days, two personal days and two weeks of vacation each year.

    Cons

Where to begin...Company offers five days of sick time each year which sounds great, but you are looked down upon for taking a sick day or for using all your sick days through the year. There is an incredible amount of favoritism shown to specific employee's. If you have gone to Villanova, you are guarantied to be everyone's star employee. There is no overtime offered period and on any given day, you don't know if you'll leave on time or four hours late. There is no such thing as a 40 hour week. You will be looked down on for working an eight hour day. You're lucky if you can work a day that is ten hours long. Say goodbye to your social life, family life or hobbies because you'll be marrying your job. Zero work/life balance period. Don't expect to be off for holiday's because why would you be? Union employees are treated far better than field office staff. Union employees are paid far better than the person that went to school/graduated college with a degree in engineering. There are countless job site that could be a 20 minute commute from your house, but this company will make sure you are at least a two hour commute from your house. Corporate preaches a care for the safety of their employees, but in reality, they only care that the men are no hurt so they can save money on injuries. Also, make sure your work phone is on and on you at home to answer phone calls and emails at 10:00pm or on weekends when you are spending time with your family. If you want a job when you are never not working, have a low salary, no life, get four hours of sleep at night, high stress, never see family, have after work meetings that are from 4:00pm to possibly 8:00pm, work a minimum or 10-12 hours a day and are completely miserable then this is the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Allow people to work closer to home. Merge sick, personal and vacation time all into PTO. Open your eyes to the fact that people do not want to attend after work meetings for two hours at a remote location and not be paid for it. Those 10-12 hours days are slave labor. if your done with work after an eight hour day, don't pass comments to people for "leaving early". Allow people to have a life outside of work. Stop with the after hour meetings, phone calls and emails and let people enjoy their life and families.

Quick advancement, great benefits & insurance, Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30

    Cons

Some lack of communication between divisions and departments.

    Advice to Management

Better interaction is needed between higher uppers and blue collar workers

    Pros

Fair company with values that they stick by, large complex and interesting work. Good benefits, 401K matching, and Stock ownership program

    Cons

Extremely Large and you are a number no matter what they say. Bonus is based on performance of entire country not just project specific.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees less like machines and more like people. Working 7 days a week without compensation is not right.
