    There is a lot of emphasis on new ideas. This is a progressive company.

    Cons

    As a lower level employee sometimes I feel lost in the mix.

    Pros

    Pay, bonus, worked with some great people

    Cons

    We we're bought out by Skanska. They changed our whole family owned company. Losing clients, laying off loyal employees.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees, clients should be a top priority. You market yourself as a perfect company. On the inside we know it's all for show.

    Pros

    Good Benefits - Health, Vision, Dental, 401k matching up to 3%
    Strong Safety Culture
    Good Diversity at all levels (below national positions)
    If your project is staffed properly, work/life balance is good.

    Cons

    Salary is on the lower end for industry and bonuses are rare.
    Processes and operations are not consistent from job to job, making it hard to put together and run a project successfully.
    No clear way to advance in your career.
    Upper management doesn't offer much support when a project is showing red flags.

    Advice to Management

    Support your teams. Don't leave them between a rock and hard place and expect them to still perform well.

    Some managers don't know how to treat people. It is hard to get a raise once you are in.

    Spend more time at the projects. Don't undervalue your staff

    Pros

    Great benefits, big projects, possible to transfer between offices and or even business units, a few good managers that still connect with their people.

    Cons

    Huge company, easy to become just a number, upper management is disconnected. Quick to hire and slow to fire low or non-performers.

    Advice to Management

    Get involved, get out to the jobsites, get to know those that are making your business grow & move forward.

    Pros

    Large stable company with good opportunities. Good benefits package and training programs. Able to leverage building and civil businesses to be a leader in delivering large complex projects, public private partnerships and commercial development.

    Cons

    Very internally focused on risk management. Project teams are overwhelmed with administrative policies, processes, procedures, etc. leadership losing connection to customers, project teams and employees. Losing/lost industry leadership role in innovation. Becoming very bureaucratic and difficult to work for and with.

    Advice to Management

    Shift focus to our customers and our teams that support them. Trust our project teams to manage customers and risk. Provide them the tools and support to be successful.

    Minimal perks, not as personable as other competing companies, not many centralized operation locations (will need to be willing to move with each project this company wins)
