Good Start and Benefits; Sometimes Unfavorable Social Culture
Aug 27, 2020 - Dining Services Employee in Saratoga Springs, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits and fair pay. Oftentimes had enough/extra hours and opportunities for upward movement. Coworkers and yourself have an opportunity to get close. Learning on the job is expected and fostered; if you put in extra effort/show interest, you can learn skills outside of your job description's parameters. Can have opportunities to shift the specific areas you work. Can meet many new people of various ages. Can meet great people for future job references and friendship.
Cons
Some sexism and issues with personal space/unsavory jokes when SOME folks get too comfortable/familiar with you. Also, a small handful of male coworkers made younger female staff uncomfortable when they found them attractive (myself and others who confided to me). Sometimes this was done unconsciously, and others times it was egregious and objectively rude/out of line.

Great place to be with young and smart people. I think if you have experiences and would like impart that on the young people, this is the place.
Cons
People are laidback and students are pretty homogeneous. I felt like there are more potentials undiscovered in this place.
