New management that is much much much better than the old ones

    Cons

Some longer serving coworkers are lazy and feel they dont have to work
We now have evening shifts which messed up life style options

    Pros

Casual environment, service spirit, great rapport across programs and locations. Deliver great services to the community, gives you a feeling of fulfillment.

    Cons

Silo mentality due to funding sources. Absolutely useless top management that led to unionizing.

    Advice to Management

    Care.

    Pros

Have benefits, slightly better than average hourly wage.

    Cons

Last minute cuts:everything from cuts to salary, resources and hours given at last possible moment. Poor communication between staff, programs, departments and programs. Questionable hiring practices, questionable spending from management. Complete disconnect from management and frontline staff. Finally, no motivation given to staff or to only a 'select few' to stay in agency. Unclear vision given to staff so lots of uncertainty as to if they have a future or not. Morale amongst frontline staff low.

    Advice to Management

-Better communication to all staff from the bottom, up not from top to bottom
-Value all staff not just 'the favourites'
-Competitive salaries and paying people what they deserve not just expecting to work for free
    -clear and attainable goals
-an open door policy with management where everyone feels welcome not like they are different from everyone else.

I worked at Skills for Change full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Family oriented atmosphere
Everyone is very employee and customer centric

    Cons

During my tenure, I noticed a sense of complacency had set in, especially in case of employees that had been working at the organization for several years. It looks like that is changing now, with new management.
