The site I was at had gone downhill with over work and lower pay considering the other jobs in the area.

The work environment is hazardous. Overworked. Management doesn’t truly care about your concerns for safety, etc…Equipment is broken or they don’t have the right tools. Micromanage. Attitudes aren’t positive.

I've been with Skookum for almost a decade. In my time, I've experienced much growth and opportunity. Skookum has supported my interests and gives me the accountability to excel and grow in a career path I am proud of. This journey with Skookum has allowed me to thrive using my interests and talents to help Skookum grow our impact with our social mission across the nation. Skookum truly cares about the outcomes for its employees, professionally and personally. Investing in the employees is a considerable focus, growing within Skookum or beyond your career of choice. It does take hard work and focus as an employee; you don't grow by just clocking in; the real opportunity is greatly rewarded if you show up and do the work and go above and beyond for others. To work at Skookum takes a unique outlook; it's more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, it's an opportunity to serve, a chance to drive change, a chance to experience, a chance to create strong partnerships. Coming to Skookum a decade ago changed my life; it further defined my purpose and made me proud to go to work every day to continue growing and spreading our mission of creating opportunities for people of all abilities.

Skookum has grown a lot – being in several states challenges the ability to have deeply rooted relationships/connections with employees/sites outside of WA state, it requires more intention.

Pros

Skookum provides several wonderful benefits to their employees, aside of the opportunity to provide excellent services to our customers they truly want the best for everyone apart of the team. It’s a family, it’s a team, its great pay, many benefits, it’s overall pleasant.

Cons

There aren’t any cons of Skookum as the mission Skookum stands for is extravagant. However, in some positions under certain contracts there isn’t room for progression which is a con especially when you value your job and team.

- Skookum takes pride in hiring people with disabilities and offering them reasonable accommodations that exceed those given by any other company I have ever worked for. - Pay is better than most other employers in the area. - There is encouragement of work/life balance. - They have an open door policy that actually is available employees. - Skookum works with our service members, side by side. - Skookum takes pride in being transparent and open about how the company is ran.

- Diversity and Inclusion lacks a bit but they are working on it.

*Really flexible with schedules and working in office/at home. *Very accommodating to people of all abilities. *Great benefits and is working to make sure everyone is aware of what is available to them and uses their benefits. *They are not stuck in old patterns or traditions and is always trying to improve in all areas. *Extremely supportive when taking time off. They don't make you feel bad for using your vacation days.

*There seems to be a bit of a boys club. In meetings, questions are often directed towards the men instead of the women that are more qualified or knowledgeable on the subject.

Pros

Skookum is a fantastic place to work. There are so many amazing people you will work with and the company genuinely cares about their employees. The mission to employ people with disabilities is a huge part of the culture and motivates everyone to work hard and take pride in the work they do.

Cons

They have no locations in Hawaii.

Pros

Skookum is a great company. They stand by their mission to create opportunities for people of all abilities. Excellent health benefits, paid time off and profit sharing. Great work/life balance. Admin team is very supportive and attentive to needs.

401K employer contribution could be better but is still generous.
