I have been working at Sky full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They work with a variety of different technologies - no matter what stack you use, I'm sure there will be something for you at Sky. A hugely inclusive, diverse company with many initiatives to promote this. Employees are encouraged to live the work values - flexible working is a huge plus.

    Cons

It's a large company that lacks cross department socialising - not much cross-site collaboration. Other than this, I can't think of any cons!

I have been working at Sky full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Supportive community, new technology and lots of opportunities to learn.

    Cons

It's sometimes difficult for the tech side of the business to get the support of the product side of the business.

I have been working at Sky full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Amazing starting salary, you get the same benefits as everybody else. People are helpful. When you start as part of the grad scheme, you get a couple of months to learn so it's a bit more chill. They support women a lot! Like, A LOT.

    Cons

The Sky campus is in the middle of no where. If you don;'t drive, it can be a struggle to get there. If you drive, there's never parking unless you go there before 8am. They do have free shuttle services from a number of locations but the only frequent one leaves from Osterley station. The one from Ealing Broadway does not do frequent pick ups in the morning.

I have been working at Sky full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexibility in working hours and working from home. Good perks that come with the job. Salary is pretty decent.

    Cons

The management are pure toxic people, who have worked at the company for 5+ years. They bully staff and have favourites within the team. If you try to go and speak to your manager about something private, don't think it will be kept private. A very cliquey culture and a lot of backbiting. No guidance given to those who are less experienced meaning juniors have to learn very quickly and are ridiculed within the team if they are not working to the same standard as those above them, who earn more money. They will also try to remove people from the team if they feel you are not a good fit - in the most unethical way possible. #lifeatsky is all rubbish - the managers don't care whether you are okay or not. In fact they will know and talk about it behind your back. There is no space for women within the tech teams - those that are hired are constantly being put down. Unfortunately this is a huge organisation and these issues are easy to miss because it's hard to keep track of all teams within the business. Just know there are quite a few sociopaths that work here.

    Advice to Management

Put yourself in other's shoes. Don't bring your personal problems to work and take them out on people who work for you.
