I worked at Sky full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great healthcare plan Free Sky TV Good training program Opportunities to grow and develop Great recognition program

    Cons

Inconsistency with training - the only training provided is when you join the company (depending on the role) and then if there are new products launched or something has gone wrong. The senior management team is a bit of a club - if you are not 'in' with them then kiss goodbye to development opportunities. Inconsistent senior management - on many occasions I witnessed things being swept under the carpet for employee A whilst employee B would be reprimanded. The reasons for this would vary but would be mainly be based around how well employee A or B were performing or how well they got on with the sales/service managers. I heard it would often be the case when sales managers would step in to stop or expedite a disciplinary process when it wasn't entirely based on any professional merit.

    Advice to Management

Don't hold agents or team leaders to a standard you are not willing to meet. Promote learning and training (not just linkedin). Get people back in the training room on a regular basis. this will avoid having to do it every 18 months when the BS hits the fan.

    Pros

Benefits are good Targets are achievable

    Cons

Work life balance is impossible Admin work is ridiculous and takes away from time managing performance The wages are quite low for what we do

    Advice to Management

Cut out some of the admin Think of team leaders as human beings with lives outside of Sky and family at home that they would like to see and spend time with

I have been working at Sky

    Pros

People are nice. Free Sky TV and cheap broadband

    Cons

Salary reviews are poor. Merit based there’s only 1% difference between average and outstanding performers. No cost of living adjustment for loyal employees

    Advice to Management

Too much politics. Managers compete too much with each other in a way that they work against each other.

I worked at Sky full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I'd rate Sky as a good place to work. The salaries are decent, but nothing special compared to other telecomms companies. This is balanced by great benefits such as free Sky TV, discounted broadband, ShareShare (very popular!), salary sacrifce schemes and private healthcare. The general feel is supportive and friendly. If you want to progress here and are willing to work hard, network and collaborate with your manager, you'll normally be able to. Sky are flexible with shifts if it possible and not detrimental to the business.

    Cons

They loose good talent during restructures (which are not uncommon) because there's little flexibility in the salary for many roles.

    Advice to Management

"Look after your people and they'll look after your customers." The nature of the business means changes happen frequently but try to keep a common, core goal in mind that you and your team are aware of an understand.

I worked at Sky full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay, benefits such as free tv.

    Cons

A company of empire builders, ready to strike you down. A lack of process's and databases or systems to store them. If you haven't been there for a years, it works against you. No feedback from internal applications, often these jobs were allocated to someone before being advertised.

    Advice to Management

    Become managers, not empire builders.
