I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time

    Pros

Other employees were kind, helpful, and, for the most part, easy to get along with. Most of the trips/time, I really did feel like I was part of a team. Enjoyed the job altogether.

    Cons

Felt like training could have been more thorough. Once I was assigned a base, I didn't feel like my "chief FA" was involved and could have been more helpful to new employees.

    Advice to Management

Take time to let people know when they are are doing well, not just when something negative (an opinion) is raised. This job is both subjective (pax) and objective (FARS); pay more attention to positive reviews and positive employees than the one passenger who complains about something not relevant and probably handled properly by the FA.

I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I really liked the people I worked with in Kalispell. The Station managers were great people and actually worked side by side the grunts when things got tight. I suppose the free stand-by travel was a pro however, my wife and I got stranded several times and wound up purchasing tickets to get out of our situation costing a lot of money.

    Cons

The hours can be very odd (extremely late / early), Those that know how to work the system cut corners and get away with laziness. If you use your travel benefits and get stranded forcing you to miss a shift.....you are written up.

I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The travel perks are like no other! Depending on domicile your over nights can be so fun! You learn a lot about your self. As long as it's up to safety protocol you are your own boss. Minneapolis domicile has great upper management! They truly are there to help and make you a better flight attendant!

    Your seniority moves up quickly!

    Cons

First month is scary! Everything is different then training! A lot of it is common sense. In training they teach you safety but not tricks of the trade.

Pay could be higher! You get your hourly " door close to door open". Long hours and you don't get full pay.

    Advice to Management

Minneapolis Cheif flight attendant is awesome keep the great work! Keith rocks! I miss working in MN!

I have been working at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The flight benefits are what keeps many people around, you can go just about anywhere in the world with them. Co workers feel more like friends most of the time. The job is flexible, which is nice when you have travel benefits.

    Cons

Can be very stressful when it gets busy. The pay is shockingly low for the amount of stressful work we do. Work is either very early mornings or late nights, a full staff has to be working 365 days per year to keep the operation going.

    Advice to Management

You are doing many things right and we seem to be improving on many small things to make work better and easier. However, the biggest complaint by everyone working here is compensation, which is the main reason why the majority of people work to begin with. This department helps avoid many cancelations and we keep crews from flying illegally. We have many talented people here using their creative minds to cover flying which saves the company so much money but we don't get anything for it besides a pat on the back. Many people feel very underappreciated and the high turnover rate reflects that.

I have been working at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

One of the best regionals! The first year is the hardest... Being on reserve and making ends meet. After one year you start getting quarterly performance awards and after 2 years you also get quarterly financial rewards. All our trips and swap boards are online so you can trade trips and control your schedule. We have part time opportunities if you have a family and want to work around that. It's a great airline to work for!

    Cons

Our pay scale is below the majors, and our flying is not as exciting, but it's a nice flexible job if you are good with the public and don't want to sit in an office.
