I have been working at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

SkyWest partners with four major airlines - Delta, United, American, and Alaska so there are great flight benefits (free flights) from each partner plus discounts from dozens of other airlines. The work atmosphere is very friendly, inviting, and relaxed. SkyWest also offers health care, vision, dental, stock purchase plan, scholarships, and other benefits.

    Cons

Most positions are paid well under the national average for similar job titles, often in the lowest 10%. Vacation and Personal Days start accruing after 6 months of service, but you can't use any vacation until after 1 year of service.

I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flying for free.
    Become more independent.
People I worked with most of the time were nice.

    Cons

Never get to see your family, you hardly get ANY training before they just sent you out there. The things you learn in training you dont even need on the line. You could be homeless when you are done with training due to the fact you need to be in a bran new expensive city pretty much right out of training. Most employees break the rules and cut corners so you can never learn your job properly. Skip the regional and go directly to mainline dont waste your time here.

    Advice to Management

    Give us better training.

I have been working at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've been working for SkyWest for 3 years now. I thought I would be here for 6 months and move on to another airline with bigger planes and international routes. I can't express how much I love this company. The first year is really hard to adjust to. It's a crazy, demanding schedule with poor pay. However, if you can make it past your first year, it's an incredible job! After 2 years, I was able to get the schedule that takes 20+ years at a legacy airline to achieve. I love my job and would recommend it over any other airline. We are the happiest group of flight attendants in the industry!

    Cons

Small airplanes that service smaller cities. We only do Mexico and Canada as international destinations. You can visit exotic locations with your benefits on your off days. However, most working overnight cities are pretty boring in small-town-USA.

I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time

    Pros

Skywest Airlines is outstanding with benefits and is truly like a family

    Cons

They are truly too quick to terminate, whether you have been their 6 months or over three years you can do something extremely small and still get terminated without warning. They are very uncharismatic in this portion of things. If you have no previous warnings it does not matter I guess they feel there are hundreds that want your job so why waste the time on the one we already have

    Advice to Management

Be less quick to terminate people, even off probation it seems like anything you do at skywest results upto and including termination but speaking of probation reduce probation period to less than one year to compare to industry standards. Even with other ailines a year is simply unheard of ! It speads the mentalitly that you would rather get rid of your staff than keep them

    Advice to Management

Pay employees what their worth to not lose some of the best employees.

I have been working at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are amazing, flying the ERJ is so much fun, three different airlines operate out of this base

    Cons

PAY-I cannot afford to live in this city with the salary they provide and I am homeless though no one knows. American flying sucks. They pretend to care about you and will leave you out in the cold. My IOE was only on 1 type of the 4 aircraft we fly. Reserve is the quintessential definition of Hell.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. I have had enough of this company pretending to care about me. Dontay is a joke for a chief and the so called guardian angels are worthless. Pay needs to be significantly increased to allow for a decent life in the hyper expensive bases you guys operate in. All reserve should be ready reserve at the airport. Oh and it would be great if you stopped treating your employees with disrespect. I'm through with this charade.
