    Pros

Great work environment, It was great working with some customers on the phones to resolve their issues

    Cons

Difficult to change shifts regardless of seniority

    Advice to Management

Allow more flexibility in employee working hours. Add more billing agents to work the phones in the evening...

    I worked at Skybeam full-time

    Pros

The pay is good. If you know any managers or your family to any one tier 2s and above you will do great

    Cons

They seem to only move people up who don't deserve it. They employ a lot of upper managements friends and relatives and they promote them quickly. There is 2 girls that work there still that have been there a long time. No one pays attention or seem to appreciate them because they are not Yes men (Women) and not family or butt kissers.

    Advice to Management

Don't promote from with in if its only going to be your friends or family

I worked at Skybeam full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Alot of freedom, as opposed to a company like Comcast where you're constantly being monitored and micro-managed to the minute. This made the position (Field Technician) more desirable and less stressful. Pay was good.

    Cons

100% self-training. I never had a formal training experience. I am a quick-learner and even I ran into numerous situations, where if properly trained, would have been minimized. The management was so un-involved with what was going on in the field that they would have unrealistic expectations and quotas which were impossible to achieve due to the technology they used.

    Advice to Management

Speak to your employees! The field technicians are the face of the company and the driving force of the business as a whole. The employees in the field know more than you think!

I worked at Skybeam full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They provided with me with the basic tools i needed to do my job correctly. They also pay very good.

    Cons

The management don't know anything about there job. They wont take suggestions on seasoned veterans and end up doing a job twice. Also everyone of them is looking for a escape goat. They dont take safety as seriously as they try to preach.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people that are working for you. You hired them for a reason let them do the job they know how to do.

I worked at Skybeam full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were a team and usually helpful. Benefits were decent. Pay was ok, but not enough with the dangers associated with the type of work. Trying to help customer issues.

    Cons

Installs and servicing up to 10ft tripod and 20ft of EMT with dish, grid or stinger, on top of a Chimney during high winds is not safe. Wet metal roofs are not safe. The safety program was non-existent and no support from management on safety equipment or procedures, just wing it. Dealing with irate customers due to several ISP's being bought out and added to the infrastructure, plus more subscribers on the towers without having the means to service them = us guys in the field having to do damage control.

    Advice to Management

Coordinate Safety Teams, Be realistic about what the customer is offered vs. receiving, Improve management, update the network, and remember that the Field Techs and I/R Techs are the ones on the front lines making you the money...

I worked at Skybeam full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people and over all an average working environment ( cubical farm).

    Cons

Leadership is like a ship without a rudder. Overwhelming partiality and and politics. Largest group of immature managers I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Pay was not as they promised and HR is an abomination. Will put you on notice when do everything they can to make sure you don't get your deals closed.

    Advice to Management

Stop you good old boy games and get to work.
