I worked at Skyline Technologies full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Extremely reputable consulting firm in the Green Bay, Milwaukee and Fox Cities area. The leadership and associates are a team of experienced and certified professionals in all aspects of technology and agile principals. An atmosphere of self development with endless opportunities for growth. Great benefits and competitive salaries with minimal travel to client sites. Skyline Technologies has a strong company vision and is committed to their values. The interviewing process is intense but they want to make sure all associates will be a great fit for Skyline and their clients.

    Cons

Skyline Technologies was an extremely supportive employer for me. The only reason I left was to make a complete career change. My last few days were nothing but encouragement and support as I pursued my next adventure.

I have been working at Skyline Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I took a chance in working for Skyline because the interview process led me to believe that there was something different about the company... something I had been looking for for years. Having worked for a large corporation for over 10 years, I was tired of being treated like a "resource" instead of a valued employee. I was tired of hearing about work-life balance but not being able to live it. I was tired of being subject to leaders who chose to lead by fear rather than lead by example. In the 2+ years I've been at Skyline, the "warm fuzzy feeling" I got when I interviewed with them still hasn't gone away. There is a strong emphasis that "family matters" here at Skyline, which is a value that is shared all the way up to the CEO (a CEO who knows my name, by the way). To date, I've been able to maintain a healthy work-life balance. I don't fear the management team and feel that they truly have my best interests in mind. While I'm sure every assignment I'm placed on won't necessarily be a bowl of cherries, my experience so far with Skyline has been excellent and exactly what I've been looking for.

    Cons

Being a smaller company, some of the benefits packages aren't as good as one might get working for a larger company. However, my experience has been that benefits can sometimes be "golden handcuffs" that keep you working for an employer even when you'd rather not. And while not specific to Skyline, being a consultant has it's challenges. Skyline can't always control the working conditions at a client site. However, when things are less than optimal with a client, the management team does their best to alleviate issues and, in some cases, chooses not to work with a client that has a toxic work environment.

    Pros

Skyline Technologies has a great culture and cares about associates long-term career. Consulting can be hard at times but Skyline understands that and tries to make it a fun environment with multiple company bonding events throughout the year. Allows for associates to grow and learn in all areas that one might be interested in.

I worked at Skyline Technologies full-time

Focus on work/life balance is a positive. A nice variety of opportunities.

I have been working at Skyline Technologies full-time

    Pros

Flexibility: I've worked at two organizations prior to Skyline, and Skyline has been the best choice for my family. The organization gives me the flexibility I need to be able to be there for my kids activities and family events when I need to be. Some times you work long hours....but that isn't different from any other job I've had in the past, and I don't feel like I need to haggle over comp time when it happens. Variety: I like the variety Skyline gives me. I have gotten to work in a variety of industries and a variety of technologies over the years. This helps to keep me engaged in my work. Involvement: I feel like I have a voice. Because we are a small organization, I feel like I can provide my input at anytime to anyone within the organization. People: I describe our team of associates as "blue-collar" IT folks. You are not surrounded by a bunch of people looking to climb the corporate ladder.

    Cons

Consulting is not for everyone. You must like change. You don't have control over what type of work you will be assigned. Customer demand drives your next assignment.

I have been working at Skyline Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Skyline has a strong focus on its culture and it is really what sets the company apart. Everyone is willing to help and give training or assistance as needed. Skyline also will provide the tools needed for its employees to learn and grow. Work life balance is a huge part of Skyline, they are very flexible as long as you are too; this is how it should be.

    Cons

Skyline has had very rapid growth in the last few years. This has lead to some blow back as I feel we lowered the bar slightly to hire more associates as we expanded into a new market. Perhaps that is just part of having a large amount of hiring in a short amount of time. As we are now more established in a new market that has helped bring our standard of hiring associates back, I'm glad to see this continually improve.
