    Pros

    Stability- you will always have a job because there is too much work to do.

    They care enough about their image to pay for someone to counter all the negative reviews.

    Very routine day to day work

    Enough room under desk to sleep

    Seen as valuable "resource"

    If you can buddy up with management, you will get a promotion

    Cons

    Toxic work culture. Too much work and not enough employees. Lots of burn out. 12-16 hour work days are expected. They hold classes on stress and time management, but no one has time to attend.

    Promotions based on favoritism and not performance or qualifications.

    Very little time off. Most time off is spent working remotely.

    Work life balance non-existent. Work related phone calls as early as 7AM and as late as 1AM.

    Wages are very low, far below industry standard. Regardless of what the PR rep on glassdoor says, the pay is very very low.

    Work is not challenging. When asking for more challenging work they give you more work instead of new tasks.

    It is hard to keep good talent. Structurally designed to keep wages low. Management cannot give promotions even if they want to.

    Pay for performance is a joke. Once you are in Skyworks you are subjected to only cost of living raises. The only way to make more money is to leave.

    Departments within Skyworks often create more work for each other that doesn't serve a purpose because they do not understand basic technical RF engineering. Quality department is a mess. They lack the technical expertise to add value to the company., but instead become a burden to the other departments who have to deal with them.
    Promotions based on favoritism and not performance.

    Skyworks lacks good leadership. Extends into senior management. Constantly understaffed for projects.

    Most managers micromanage. This really removes all motivation there is to work.

    Advice to Management

    I would be shocked if they read this.

    Hire more people to help understaffed departments. Be more proactive in anticipating needs instead of reactive.

    Invest in your employees and work to employee good talent!! Pay fair wages!!

    Instead of paying someone to lie on glassdoor to save your reputation, actually earn a good reputation.

    Work on making promotions fair.

    Focus on your employees and the stock will go up.

    Job stabilty
    Well performing company when customer does well

    Cons

    Pay for performance claim is a farce since the annual salary review, even for top performers, can't compete with the market trend.

    New hire base salary starting above current employee mid point only to be competitive with the market value without having demonstrated performance.

    Very compartmentalized designer structure - PA designer, LNA designer, laminate designer. No role overlap. Limited chance to learn new things after knowing your role.

    No job function difference between those with no experience and 20 years experience

    PA designers favored over all others

    Recognition for hard work is very rare, mostly just mistakes

    Corporate goals are too agressive, so no bonuses are given

    Advice to Management

    Pointless. No one will act upon it.

    Only the pay compensation is standard as far as I can see.

    Cons

    Little PTO, mediocre benefits, facilities are sub-par

    Advice to Management

    Increase PTO faster, some people want a life outside of work

    Pay was much higher than any other competing companies

    Cons

    Management is ONLY driven by production numbers! No camaraderie between management and workers. NO possibility of any career advancement! Not a learning environment. What you have as far as knowledge when you get in, is all you'll have when you leave! Dark and austere lab spaces!Truly run by account driven bean counters! Avoid if you have a choice or you will regret it!

    Advice to Management

    Spend some of the billion in cash you have on facilities and employee wages. Stop the finger pointing at every level and listen to employees for improvements. Go from a truly third class company to a first class company! Perhaps higher consultant that have worked with the best companies and really survey everything in this wanna be company! You are so far from a first class company it is incredible!

    Pros

    Skyworks Newbury Park has the ability to be an amazing company and become the leader in the industry. It offers great benefits and a competitive salary.

    Cons

    The company is still hanging onto the outdated forced ranking system that mandates that all managers rate 20% of their employees as a TM3 - no raise. After many years of downsizing the organization to meet profit objectives the forced ranking system creates serious morale issues. It is also very difficult to attract top talent to Ventura County area, which means when you lose people you can't replace them. Skyworks may fail as an organization if they don't retire this outdated system.

    Advice to Management

    With the departure of Dave Aldrich the TM system needs to go. Also, the new CEO needs to get on task and lead!! This includes timely approval of the FY17 budgets and capital. His delays hurt the moral of the management team, as they are expected to execute a plan with a very compressed timeline.

    As Skyworks continues to try and push margins even higher and reduce costs, the senior management team needs to lad by example. This includes eliminating wasteful domestic and international travel. (Conference calls and video conferencing is easy, cheap and would save $200K a month on unnecessary travel)
