I worked at Skyworks Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people to work with are the best reasons to stay and what the company does is very cool. The top management talks a good talk and vision. If you thrive and love a very fast paced environment where you don't mind working longer than 8 hours a day to get the job done then this is the place for you. You do go home every day feeling very accomplished. There is always something new and challenging and you really can make a difference.

    Cons

The company runs extremely lean, has unrealistic goals and expectations with very low budgets to work with, the targets set for bonuses the last 2 years unrealistic so not achieved. In 2016 no bonuses were paid out in the co. and 2017 a lot of groups got barely anything so very demotivating when you work so hard and long hours and were counting on it all year long. Company also has the tenure employees below the market pay scale they can go to any competitor right now and earn more money easily.

    Advice to Management

Keep AIP goals realistic. Employees understand it's business and about the stock market and shareholders but if we look good out there inn the market and all good talk about SWKS but employees are not being paid bonuses and incentives and being worked to death that doesn't create a good environment. You sell the company as being so innovative but yet the tools that they employees have to work with are so legacy and archaic. Company is not innovative in thought too conservative and not open minded. There is such a disconnect in so many areas and not enough communication on issues or guidance. Definitely needs better leadership and manager training and coaching.

I have been working at Skyworks Solutions full-time

    Pros

Lots of work to do, understaffed so you won’t be bored

    Cons

Long hours, really low wages. Embarrassing trying to hire people that make more than their prospective managers. HR will respond that they are in line with industry but QC and BC pay way better. AIP will be changed if management thinks they might actually have to pay bonuses so don’t get your hopes up.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees as valuable members of a team, not an asset to manage. Liam really knows how to squeeze people dry. Lots of the best employees leaving for greener pastures.

There is a sense of responsibility among individual contributors as the team size is bare minimum
Ok for fresh graduates and after few years YOU must EXIT.
The company culture ain't for achievers.

    Cons

Average set of people including Management.
    Pay is below market standard
Thinking outside the box is not in the culture
Skyworks IT is not top notch, Management lacks any kind of skills whatsoever.
There is no sense of pride among workers

    Advice to Management

Doesn't matter, no one bothers to listen. All everyone care about is getting their paycheck and retiring

    Pros

Consistent work flow, no worry of lay off, great holiday schedule(will be compensated double time on holidays worked)

    Cons

If you work on the labor side of the company, you are highly under payed. Max 4% raises when you make less than $20/hour.......do the math. Can’t make a career there if you don’t have a degree.

    Advice to Management

The worker bee’s of the company have a crucial role in the operation. Treat them like it or else one day they will band together and unionize.

    Pros

The company is small enough that one can make significant contribution and get noticed very easily. Decisions can be made without going through all the approval loops as with larger corporations. Work is challenging and yet rewarding. It's not the 8-5 job for engineers who want to make an impact, it's the same else where.

    Cons

Vacation is 2 weeks + 1 week of wellness. Employees work hard, but don't have enough vacation time to play hard.

    Advice to Management

Please increase vacation to 3 weeks or consider changing 1 week wellness to vacation. I would give a 5 star if there's more vacation.
