Marketing Manager
May 30, 2023 - Marketing Manager in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good compensation, interesting cutting edge technology
Cons
Way too political, Managers tend to be rewarded based on internal relationships over technical knowledge. Personally not for me.

Pros
The people here are energetic and willing to make changes. Fast-paced working culture forces you to learn new skills and knowledge all the time.
Cons
The SoCal site's pay grade doesn't match the cost of living there. Most of young engineers are struggling financially and cannot make a living without parents' support.

Not a great place to be Fab Technician
Apr 11, 2023 - Wafer Fabrication Technician in Woburn, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Benefits are good, most fellow co workers are nice.
Cons
If you plan on applying for a Fab Tech position, you'll never be referred to that, your "only" an "operator" and treated like a nobody for the most part. Skyworks is a degree snob, and if you don't have one, even if you've been working in the industry for 20-30 years and know a lot, your a nobody there. You might get lucky on a very rare occasion and move up to be a Group/Fab Lead. If you take a group lead position you get a 5% increase in pay, but then the company takes that 5% away when you use your personal pto or wellness time. Good Luck.

Experience as a Analog Design Co-Op
Mar 14, 2023 - RF/Analog Design Co-op in Cedar Rapids, IARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The working culture is conducive to learning as an intern/co-op. The mentorship provided is very good so you can contribute to ongoing projects along with learning new concepts. The tasks given are difficult and requires the use of concepts learned in university and helps in bolstering the same.
Cons
The weather is not good year round so commuting to office is a challenge during winter in particular.

Good Place to Start if you are a fresh Graduate
Oct 24, 2022 - Staff Electrical Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
For new employees there is enough training material to bring people up to speed to their design flows and processes. Generally speaking people were nice, but I guess it depends on each person.
Cons
I interviewed during COViD and I believe at the time, the remote interview process did not give either party a good chance to evaluate the other. So I over-estimated certain things and they under-estimated certain things. Not to mention that after I accepted the offer, I realized that I had to report to a different hiring manager than the one I spoke to during the interview process. There is a certain level of office politics involved during the planning of the tasks for each project, and people with less qualifications can be involved in the more interesting and advanced work, and people with more qualifications can get stuck with the trivial work. I worked for 8 months, but honestly after my 4th month, things started to get very repetitive and boring, and at the 8th month marker and after increasingly being consumed with entry-level work, I realized that I could have used this time working somewhere else and build on my skill and my career rather than working backwards. The compensation was significantly lower than the market, and their excuse is the low housing market. But honestly Cedar Rapids, IA is not a cheap place. AC is blasting all summer, and heater is blasting all winter, and the state tax is higher than the average.
