I worked at Skyworks Solutions full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The biggest pro is that I do not have a lot to write for this. Always work to be done. You will have the same job for years. You really have to work hard for your money.

    Cons

Pay is well below standard despite what the company says in their responses. Liam either has no idea what he is doing, or just doesn't care. I am hoping it is the former. The board of investors have turned this into a cash cow that they receive a steady income on. There was little to no room for advancement. There is a backlog of senior people waiting for a promotion, so if you are new in your career, look elsewhere.... They want to hire the best, but on a budget. Long hours, 20 hour workdays are more common than 12 hour workdays. Before they can address work life balance, maybe address work/sleep balance. Employees are viewed as disposable my management, and treated that way. a 100 hour workweek will barely get you a marginally satisfactory rating on your review and you will still be behind, but hey maybe you will get that 0.7% annual cost of living increase. This should really just be a stopgap between real careers.

    Advice to Management

Fire Liam and move on. Treat your employees like people and not work horses. Be motivated by something other than money.

"Co. runs extremely lean, long hours, sometimes no bonus targets unrealistic, intelligent and fun people to work with"

I worked at Skyworks Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people to work with are the best reasons to stay and what the company does is very cool. The top management talks a good talk and vision. If you thrive and love a very fast paced environment where you don't mind working longer than 8 hours a day to get the job done then this is the place for you. You do go home every day feeling very accomplished. There is always something new and challenging and you... really can make a difference.

    Cons

The company runs extremely lean, has unrealistic goals and expectations with very low budgets to work with, the targets set for bonuses the last 2 years unrealistic so not achieved. In 2016 no bonuses were paid out in the co. and 2017 a lot of groups got barely anything so very demotivating when you work so hard and long hours and were counting on it all year long. Company also has the tenure employees below the... market pay scale they can go to any competitor right now and earn more money easily.

    Advice to Management

Keep AIP goals realistic. Employees understand it's business and about the stock market and shareholders but if we look good out there inn the market and all good talk about SWKS but employees are not being paid bonuses and incentives and being worked to death that doesn't create a good environment. You sell the company as being so innovative but yet the tools that they employees have to work with are so legacy... and archaic. Company is not innovative in thought too conservative and not open minded. There is such a disconnect in so many areas and not enough communication on issues or guidance. Definitely needs better leadership and manager training and coaching.

I have been working at Skyworks Solutions full-time

    Pros

Lots of work to do, understaffed so you won’t be bored

    Cons

Long hours, really low wages. Embarrassing trying to hire people that make more than their prospective managers. HR will respond that they are in line with industry but QC and BC pay way better. AIP will be changed if management thinks they might actually have to pay bonuses so don’t get your hopes up.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees as valuable members of a team, not an asset to manage. Liam really knows how to squeeze people dry. Lots of the best employees leaving for greener pastures.

I have been working at Skyworks Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very poorly managed company in Woburn. Have been in business more than 10 years, yet they make more mistakes than any 10 startup companies. Safety is nonexistent, they want to be safe but don't have the time or money for it. They makeup yield numbers to keep others happy but in reality, if a customer needs 10 wafers, they start 16 and hope they get 10 usable wafers from the bunch.

    Cons

Poor pay, long hours, lots of buck-passing, little to no paid time off. To say the company is unsafe would be wrong, they don't care about safety. I think they spend more money paying off OSHA then they send on PPE.

    Advice to Management

Go to another semiconductor company for a few weeks of training to see how professional managers get the job done without threats or bulling.

I have been working at Skyworks Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Large company with a lot of resources and established processes (can also be a con), makes for a relatively straightforward transition from school. Lots of highly experienced employees. Very solid pay + benefits (including stock options and grants at entry level). Design, manufacturing, testing, FA and customer support are all done on site (at least at Newbury Park) so you can be exposed to all sides of the business.

    Cons

Large company with established procedures, so some positions can be repetitive. There is some tension between different departments that can hamper progress due to finger pointing and posturing. Many people do work long hours, although it varies a lot by position
