    Pros

Great product! Everyone should own one. Need better customer service!

    Cons

No work-life balance! They focused more on there investors then their employees. Constant delivery issues. Damager and missing product. Customers have to wait several weeks to get their newly delivered beds repaired or replaced due to delivery personnel damaging it or the product is missing! Customer service does not seem to care. If these customers, who they do not want to help immediately, do not purchase these products then nobody has a job in the company!! It needs to be based on customer experience and satisfaction but no one seems to understand that! This is not about the product because the Sleep Number bed is a fantastic product. Best out there. A great deal of customers cancel because of their experience and the way that they were dealt with, purchase an inferior product just because of their experience with Sleep Number customer service and delivery. This happens on a daily basis with hundreds of stores around the country and the problem is never rectified! It seems to be worse!!!! These people are giving this product a bad name only because of the service they receive not the product itself and that is a shame!! Everyone should sleep in a Sleep Number bed!!!

    Advice to Management

Customers needs should come first! Most customers do not want money back they want to be heard understand and the problem rectified as soon as possible ! We understand that things happen whether it be damaged or missing items but it's the experience and the way the customer is treated during that time! If the customer is treated with respect understanding and customer service works to get the problem rectified as soon as possible the customer is satisfied and will work with Sleep Number to get this taken care of! But that is usually not the case! Something always seems to go wrong during that process and the customer's frustration is taken as negativity rather than understanding! People just want their feelings to be heard, to have some empathy and respect for them! Yet we leave them with a bad taste in their mouth and they tell everyone that will listen about their experience because they can't comment on the product. They haven't tried it yet! We don't give them that chance!!

    Pros

It's a great place to kick start a decent sales career. Sales goals are realistic, and pay is very good for a retail job. If you are good at sales, a year or two experience of working at sleep number would look great on your resume.

    Cons

No growth! You are stuck in the same position for years and years!
    No intellectual stimulation.
Retail hours... working every weekend gets very old, very soon. Especially if you have kids.

    Advice to Management

Take the best employees and make them district trainers, especially in slower months.

I worked at Sleep Number by Select Comfort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

you will develop your ability to de-escalate people

there are good people that work there

    Cons

management seems to be more concerned with enforcing new rules than improving customer experience.

letting customers down because you don't have an answer to why their delivery of their bed has been postponed three times and delayed months at a time.

no one really cares how bad the customer service is.

customers don't get notified that their bed delivery is being rescheduled until about 30 minutes before their 4 hour window starts. (after they've used their PTO to be at home for this time)

the amount of time in between calls is a more important stat than the surveys the customers complete at the end of the call asking how the customer service was (I was a quality over quanity kind of person)

there is a point system regarding attendance that is heavily flawed. (if you are over 6 minutes late you get the same consequence as someone who called in

less than stellar computer systems are common in this kind of job but the issues here can cause you to clock in late or return from break late and fighting the attendance team trying to prove what happened is another battle.

    favoritism

you get a sense that your in school again with people monitoring the floor. not to offer help but to police cell phone usage for a few people that just don't get it.

disappointing so many people day after day

the other departments within the company that you have no choice calling, are unbelievably rude sometimes as if their annoyed they have to talk to you.

I've never had such a hard time getting a day off approved at any other job even with pto

I could go on and on

    Advice to Management

I know numbers are important but so is the customer. At least make it seem like sleep numer cares about the customer. the cheapest bed is $799.

follow the rules that they are enforcing on others.

restructure the attendance team. They seem to not understand we are on the same team.

it could really be a good place to work if they just took a step back and focused on the customer experience .

It's a great job and we have great customers money's great and people are great also to work with management is just okay

    Cons

My problem is that people pay anywhere from 1000.00 too 12,000 for a bed and if they have a problem with it we charge them 180.00 to come out to look at while we say the first 2 years everything is covered and it's not which makes us look like we have lied to get the sale they have 100 nights and when charged them they returned there bed and I lose the sale all of you that sit at corporate I hope you enjoy your job because if keep doing this to are customers we won't have any and you will be out of a job we should have a technical group handle these issues not the drivers

All you do is think about the bottom line and not the well being of or customers remember with out you don't have a job

    Pros

Your location is a big part the senior management is unorganized. If you are in the right location and have a leader that understands sales, you can grow.

    Cons

A corporation should not have the "buddy system". Management doesn't work as a team. Being told to different things by different people that go against policy. They leave you with no help. Sales and customer service isn't their most important goal. Leaders favorites will successes and will most likely be male. Be prepared to work more than scheduled and expected to do it off the clock and keep your mouth shut and just be a leader.

    Advice to Management

Know what your District Managers are doing. The values of this company are being smothered by their interpataion of "policies"
