    Pros

Good company prior to aquistion by Mattress Firm.

    Cons

Most DMS were demoted to make room for new MF management style. Creating an Area manager position in store's that will do the job of the old DSM that were demoted with promises of bonus structure as an incentive, by years end most store will be doubled and will cut your commission in half and begin paying $12.00 an hour plus the commissions will suffer under the new MF pay structure. Now company a sold again to an Large private company from South Africa, never ending change and undecided company in danger.

    Advice to Management

Do not forget about backbone of a Sales organization the Sales People!

    Pros

Guarantee Pay of $125 per day, paid training, chance for advancement, promotion with-in, resources available online and by inter-store phone. Great products well laid out showroom.

    Cons

Training sporadic, Given training manual but trainers did not follow the manual, training was eyeopening once in-store, employees spent most of day trying to save past sales from cancellations and gossiping on phone and with each other. When and if customers came in employees bargained and made drastic price drops that took away any earnings they were to make and the customer's faith in the store and product. The pay is 100% commission based even if it is guaranteed, you must pay back when actually earned, must work 11-12 hours a day, physical labor involved, choice stores are assigned by favoritism and if new will be placed in poor producing stores on slow sale days, must work all holidays but Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Sleepy's was purchased by Mattress Firm in 2015, they are already making changes that involves removal of many management positions and demoting and terminating people who have worked there for a long time. Was told on last day of training my DSM demoted and would not be present to do my final exam, and it was not to take place. End of day stated to me position no longer available DSM needed it now that demoted. Total waste of time and money, to company and myself. I could have found an excellent position else where in the month of time wasted. They recruited me!

    Advice to Management

When placing employees in the precarious position of losing their job security, do not expect them to perform logically when they see their future crumbling around them. Wasting company resources by poor work ethics and prejudice of who they know and who they kiss up to. Consistency in training what is actually needed to sell the product, take care of showroom and customers to the full extent of store policies and customer care. Making the sale involves getting to the root of the objection getting their trust and respect and loyalty, while providing them with a knowledge and understanding of what they purchased and why, making them happy and satisfied in their purchase, not wondering and questioning why they even bought! Assuming the sale the entire time.

    Pros

Good management, very accessible. Great environment. If you're looking to learn power equipment(tugger, pallet jack, stockpicker etc.) They definitely want to teach you.

    Cons

If heavy lifting and sweating are not your thing, don't bother. We are talking mattresses and heavy accessories here. For me the only issue would be when things slowed down in between major sales periods. It seemed the longer I was there the longer the slowdowns lasted. Also rotating schedules might be a concern. That's working every other weekend.

    I worked at Sleepy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great associates, hard working managers, beautiful showrooms, top of the line products

    Cons

Paid bi-weekly, Earnings Statement and Commission Statement for the same two-week pay period did not agree, not in number of sales, commissions earned, SPIFFs earned, and the company paid the lowest. Requests for explanation of the differences and correction of the errors brought no response from Payroll. Instead, my second request to Payroll was sent to the Help Desk marked as SPAM. My manager sounded irritated when I told him I had been blocked from emailing Payroll. Checking the previous 90 days' records revealed more "errors", always in Sleepy's favor. Realizing I was not going to get errors corrected, or ever receive my correct earnings, I resigned.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Easy job. For the most part customers that come into a mattress store need a mattress right now. Short sales cycle, easy close, good commissions for the most part.

    Cons

1: Long hours. They will promise you a 3 or 4 day work week as full time but it is almost impossible to get less than 5 days a week 12 hours a day. 2:Low customer volume. It is not uncommon for you to have no customers at all for 2-3 days every week. No customers=No sales=No commissions. This makes it almost impossible to cover draw. Except in a small number of showrooms that due above average.

    Advice to Management

More flexibility with scheduling. Open and responsive communication.

    Pros

Literally none. Good stop gap if you need money while you find something better.

    Cons

12+ hour work days. No appreciation. $125 draw. No moving up. No set store, bouncing around. No personal life.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees. Bring back bonuses.
