I have been working at Slumberland full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Between the extensive growth of the organization and structured manager-in-training programs, the opportunities for advancement are extensive for motivated and mobile candidates. I myself have accepted promotions and transfers to 3 different states over the years, and I have cherished each experience. A team-based atmosphere and people-first philosophy are very evident and consistent from store to store and market to market, showing a strong commitment to our core values from senior cabinet members all the way to the newest back room guy. I have been an employee for the better part of 2 decades and I anticipate many more!

    Cons

It is retail, so the hours are not the most convenient if you are looking for a 9-5 M-F job. That said, if you can get past that hurdle it is very hard to find negatives. The people are awesome, the compensation is competitive or better, and the opportunities are excellent!

I worked at Slumberland full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Solid hours and nice coworkers.

    Cons

Understaffed, undertrained, undersupported. New store set up in a new town for company. 4 warehouse workers were replaced with lower paid workers months after setting the store up.

    Advice to Management

    Don't screw over your employees.

    Pros

Slumberland truly values their employees. Christian based company (though you don't have to be Christian to work here). We give back 10% of our profits to charities and our community. Huge opportunity for advancement. Incredibly transparent, and every decision is data driven. I am dedicated to this company and the Larson family, I will work here until I retire.

    Cons

I have to type something in this box. ;-)

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Slumberland full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A retail environment that is respectful of their employees, and their lives outside of work.
They are responsible, and well-liked by the community and their customers.
The leadership allows you to make the right decisions for the customer.

    Cons

Financially conservative, sometimes slows technology progress. However, because they are fiscally responsible, the don't have sweeping layoffs or aggressive cuts elsewhere.

    Pros

I get to work in a cool environment building chairs, book shelves, tables, and bar stools. My coworkers are friendly and make me laugh at least 4 times a day. I prep the truck for the next day and clean where it's needed. Over all it is a relaxing medium paced job where you get paid holidays and PTO with each pay check. Best job EVER!

    Cons

It can get physically demanding at times. Some brands of Sofas weigh up to 300 pounds. Stooping and bending is often done while wrapping Dressers. Some days are VERY busy and other days are slow. And with down time comes lots of cleaning.

    Advice to Management

Do acknowledge the work done by your employees. some of these jobs take time effort and finesse. Letting your warehouse guys know that you appreciate their hard work.

    Pros

Family owned and that culture flows through every store. Everyone I work with is exceptionally friendly and motivating. We all work together to help each other grow and assist with fixing mistakes. It truly is a place where you will grow to be the best version of yourself within your position.

    Cons

Our merchandise handlers are not paid enough in my opinion. They are always the last face a customer sees after a sale finishes and we need them to have the same compassion for this company that the sales floor does.

    Advice to Management

If we could incentivize a referral program where our merch handlers could earn a percent from a sale that they referred. This would allow them to build a larger salary for themselves as well as creating a passionate sales rep even when they are not working
