I worked at Smart Circle full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It's easy to get as a first job and does give you experience to reference back to in future job interviews. They do try to apply a lot of old psychological ideas about "perception is reality" that could be helpful for people with a bad mindset, but one of the qualifications for being hired is a relentlessly positive attitude, so its wasted.

    Cons

Pay is terrible for the hours. I was discouraged from logging the hours when we did mandatory prep or tear down for events because it was "paying your dues to get ahead". Employees are discouraged from talking to friends or family about work and are even discouraged from talking to each other unless it's Super Positive work-talk. Cutting people off from one another, working them ragged and the chanting, repetitive, positivity...

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring people with college degrees. The people that did best at the office I was involved with were the younger, less educated individuals.

I worked at Smart Circle full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some parts of the atmosphere were uplifting and motivating - I liked the people I worked with.

    Cons

Long hours, pyramid scheme, overworked ... I was supposed to be an intern and was working over 60 hours a week... I ended up giving two weeks and the manager was trying to emotionally manipulate me to stay - do not recommend working for this business. Also, they don't even tell you that they are owned by Smart Circle so it's impossible to know until you're too far into the business.

I worked at Smart Circle for less than a year

    Pros

I liked the people that I worked with.

    Cons

I liked the people I worked with but they were basically brainwashed into doing anything that their manager's were doing. It was corrupt and unethical and I would never advise anyone to work for such a corrupt company unless they want to lose all their current relationships with friends and family for this job.

    Advice to Management

Stop overworking your employees and treating them like they are only revenue or worthless. It isn't fair.

I have been working at Smart Circle

    Pros

You will learn how to sell anything to anyone which is a fantastic skill to have.

    Cons

I would like to point one lie that managers and the person doing the interview will not tell you... Almost ALL products that you advertise in stores are made by SMART CIRCLE. Ever wondered why all your product shipment boxes say Innovage? Because INNOVAGE is SMART CIRCLE! There are only a couple of actual companies like Direct TV outsource their direct sales through Smart Circle. So much for being a number one marketing...

    Pros

    -great experience for your resume

    Cons

    - paid 100% commission; to move up you will have to pay the people you are training out of your own commission - you work 6 days a week; no paid time off and asking for a day off is highly frowned upon - if your good at selling you can easily be promoted into account manager, but you will be promised a management position that will never come. - to obtain a mangers position you will have to train and move 4 people...

    Advice to Management

hourly wages to hopefully lower the turnover rate, there is a lot of money to go around and while most people in the company are suffering to put food on the table and pay bills, upper management is living frivolously and constantly demanding more pieces to be sold. It seems very corrupt.
