I worked at Smart Circle full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some cool people. Easy work, lots of breaks

    Cons

Pyramid system Long hours for low pay. Work 12 straight days for 1 day off. They expect you to drive all over the place with no compensation. You are one of those obnoxious people that come up to you in the store trying to get you to buy lotions and other useless crap. Everyone hates you for it.

I worked at Smart Circle full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You can learn how to sell. I don't have any other positive things to say!

    Cons

Long, long hours; want 7 days a week; half your hours you aren't paid for; heavy miles on car; very stressful; had 100% turnover of personnel in 6 weeks!

    Advice to Management

Come up with a business model that works for more than just the Owner/Manager.

I worked at Smart Circle full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The co-workers are nice...to your face. Although the company is full of "bad apples," there are some very kind, well-meaning, professional people in the company. Some of the products are good. Employees learn a lot throughout the course of the program. Excellent nationwide mentor network. Career advancement / network conferences

    Cons

No matter which division a person works for (Roadshows, DTV, door to door, etc.), he enters the business in an entry-level position promised that he will make it to management in 6-8 months as long as he has a positive attitude, excellent student mentality & stellar work ethic. Employees are also told that they create their own opportunity, and successes and failures are results of their work. The company, however,...

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. If you want to develop the ownership mentality, nurture them and help them grow into managers. Compensate them appropriately so that people will want to stay and develop with the company. If this truly is a "people-building business" like the upper-level management claims, then managers should be evaluated on the number of people they develop into owner/managers NOT on their sales...

I have been working at Smart Circle full-time for less than a year

    Pros

great office environment, good for new graduates

    Cons

You work long hours for little pay. High turnover rates and seriously mis-managed. They try to make it seem as if everyone has the chance to advance but its just a big pyramid scheme.

    Advice to Management

Don't talk about being a leader if you can effectively run an office.

    Positive Outlook

    I worked at Smart Circle

    Pros

Tremendous advancement opportunity. If you can actually stick it out and do the selling then you can become an owner and you make a ton of cash. You can also become an owner pretty quickly.

    Cons

Terrible pay for entry level, long hours, always on your feet. Lots of driving. Some mean customers. You have to sit through a lame pep talk every morning. but most of all it's a commission job, so very unstable pay.

    Advice to Management

    have fun with your cash

I worked at Smart Circle full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you don't mind lying to people, forcing them to do something they don't want, abd just happen to be an outstanding one in a million sales person there is great earning potential(exmaple1k+ weekly) Also the training is great and it's free and most the employees that stay longer than a week are pretty cool people

    Cons

Long Hours about 50+ per week If you don't make enough commision you only get paid for 32-40 hours at minimum wage which is almost every week and the boss will probably fire you for not being profitable You are doing face to face shady marketing, I was selling direct TV inside bestbuys, frys, and walmarts, depending on what store you are woking in the sale prices of direct TV will vary making it harder or even harder...

    • Senior Management
Former Employee - Sales Representative in Tarrytown, NY

    I worked at Smart Circle

    Pros

Developed persistent sales skills, learned the ins of the sales industry, earning potential on you, ability to separate yourself from others after a single day in field

    Cons

no benefits, no salary, long hours, high transportation costs, stressful atmosphere at times, sketchy management

    Advice to Management

I understand that you are under a lot of pressure but respect all of your employees. Stop being so misleading and making everyone think they can one day own their own company. Be real and maybe you won't get fired like 90% of new managers do.
