    Pros

The managers would act like good people until they no longer needed you. And if your lucky you won't pay for bags

    Cons

The people are very racially segregated and I worked with a young very hard working african American who has been there for 4 years and is at $12/hr. They sell a lot of expired items and

    Pros

    They work around your schedule

    Cons

Promote people who are not quality, low pay

    Advice to Management

Look at the employees that really are quality and compensate them. Company growing too fast and desperately promoting associates of poor quality.

    Pros

It felt like a fair amount of work for what I was paid. Fun co-workers. Good workout. Great amount of praise.

    Cons

Management can get a little uptight, I sometimes felt like boss man was condescending. When the rush hit everyday it always felt like we were understaffed and everyone would stress out.

    Pros

Rewarding in some ways. Its money.

    Cons

Management are gossips along with cashiers , then basically the rest of the associates, they like to be noisy.

    Advice to Management

Stop favoritism and learn to control these kids you employ.

I worked at Smart & Final part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -401k plan
    -Flexible Hours(To a Point)
    -Good Customers (Usually)

    Cons

    - HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT(35th & Greenway, AZ)
    -Lack of Communication
-Work Assignment Based on Popularity...not on Job Performance.
    -Would assign Impossible Time Deadlines
-Key person/"Person in Charge" Tend to dump work on Load Crew.
-Constantly Increase work load with no benefit to the Load Crew besides longer hours(and they kept pushing the minimum time to get a lunch to "Past" 7.5 hours)
-Nothing about personal Hygiene in rules of conduct

    Advice to Management

Work/Job Performance should dictate Seniority, not Purely length of Employment.
COMMUNICATION....Pure and simple...Between Load crew and upper management especially.

Spread "Facing" duties among more employee's aka Cashier's/Deli/Produce.
that way EVERYONE has a General Idea where items are located in the Store. As well as makes it much less of a task on load crew

-If your going to work Load Crew(the REAL Ones..Not the talkers/Hour Hogs) like dogs atleast pay em Decently.

I have been working at Smart & Final part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible work hours and easily can take off days unpaid whenever you like.. Typically can get a lot of hours as long as you work hard.

    Cons

A lot of times they expect to much out of you. They might give you a lot to do right before you leave. And it's difficult to get a raise.

    Advice to Management

As to treatment of regular employees nothing. But I've noticed district managers don't have much respect for managers or assistant managers. They tend to expect too much of them and often make them work more and don't understand what it's like actually working in the store so complain about stuff they really don't have time to do so they pass it on to other employees and it's as stupid as there is dust that no one can see and no one cares about.

  9. "Normal Stuff"

    Corporate stuff

    I worked at Smart & Final part-time

    Pros

Smart and Final was a great friendly place to work. I enjoyed the customer service environment. I worked with a really good team, I was happy to be supervising and training the employees. They try to get the customers in and out which that service I appreciated.

    Cons

There really was no cons about it, we all worked hard as a team to get the store running in tip top shape.

    Advice to Management

It's a friendly place to work, hours, and pay. Keep all employees apart of the great working team environment I have ever been in.
