I have been working at Smartsoft International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a great place to learn emerging technologies and ensure growth in career as the management does not budge to invest in building an environment to harp the benefits of emerging technologies and motivates employees to upgrade skills as much

The support provided by the company to build a conducive environment for employees who travel from other countries on a work visa (I am non-immigrant work visa holder) to help them get comfortable with the nuances of living in a new country and working in a new workplace are pretty commendable

Flexibility to choose projects and area of specialization provides an individual the leverage to do what they prefer rather than do something that is thrust upon them by the management

Pretty responsive administration and human resources team that tends to lend a ear to employee concerns and builds solutions in accordance

Openness of the upper management to listen to new ideas pertaining to business directly from employees helps in projecting individual contribution to the fore, which usually die down along the conversation with the middle management in most concerns

    Cons

Appraisal percentages for employees could be improved

The marketing of products and services can be made more effective to bring in more business

Upper management can keep on tab on the middle management where traces of nepotism are evident

    Advice to Management

In all it is a great place to work and grow. The management's effort to enhance business associations to build more interesting business propositions and an effort to contain favoring individuals would help standardize the business process and ensure seamless growth.

I have been working at Smartsoft International (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity for career growth
A lot of resources to bank on for learning SAP technology
Investment in current hardware & software tools to develop skills
Personal attention to employees' career goals and circumstances
Individuals encouraged to try new tools of the trade

    Cons

Certain individuals appear to have undue influence over the management (not sure if management realizes it or not) which creates an air of negativity, unfairness and distrust among the rest of the employees. Given the non-mainstream environment, the impact is much worse than the usual "office politics" one has to deal with anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Beware of getting organizational advice from individuals who may have vested interests and hidden motives, since they cause greater indirect damage. Improve overall morale with a fair, transparent & consistent approach, and by letting no one claim special privileges. Promoting trust (a two-way street) is crucial to building on your commendable success of providing career and growth opportunities for so many consultants. Good luck!!

I have been working at Smartsoft International full-time

    Pros

The interview process for entry into the company was pretty simple and straight forward

The vision of the senior management to align the resources, projects and plan in line with the dynamic changes in the industry is commendable

The size of teams being small necessitates employees to get involved in all the processes of a project implementation cycle - blueprint, design, configuration, implementation, testing and go-live. Though it is taxing, the learning curve is good.

Consulting requisites horizontal specialization and prevents the luxury of vertical specialization. But, this helps in transitioning to business consulting and architect roles along time.

    Cons

Work life balance is subject to project schedule and delivery management

Job involves a good amount of travel. It turns out to be pretty taxing over a period of time

Profitability challenges lead to short term cost optimization strategies which hits the employee benefits. This needs to be looked into

Infrastructure could be improved (parking, pantry)

    Advice to Management

Do focus resources on infrastructure improvement
