I worked at Smith College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

An educational and intriguing place to work, where you can greatly improve your sewing and design skills while simultaneously having fun and getting a chance to be part of show production.

    Cons

Minimum wage pay and kind of a small space that can get a bit cramped (but full of good stuff!)

I worked at Smith College part-time

    Pros

The best mentor you could ask for! The Assistant Director of ResLife is incredibly dedicated, highly organized, and the most thorough advice-giver. This job granted me so much independence and really opened my eyes to careers in HigherEd.

    Cons

Not necessarily a con, but serving as the (sometimes) first point of contact for the department can prove challenging. You are often responsible for working with frustrated students who do not understand the rationale for certain processes. You become at master at providing transparency, sympathy, and support!

    Advice to Management

The job was fairly new when I held the position, but my supervisor was always looking for ways to improve it. I have no doubt that it will be tweaked as the years go on, becoming more beneficial to the department as a whole.

I worked at Smith College part-time

    Pros

flexible hours, beautiful place to work, great co-workers and pretty laid back.
You have a lot of down time and its the perfect place to bring your work while nobody is renting boats
you can get extra shifts over the weekends if you reach out.

    Cons

none. I had a few time conflicts with my other job but they worked out in the end. They really help to accommodate to everyone's schedule and your co-workers are pretty great.

    Advice to Management

none. maybe put a stereo in the boat house so it's not so eerily quiet.

I worked at Smith College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great staff. When I was a student there the catering department was the best place to work. Students were able to access the best food and we also learned some tangible skills. They also made sure to keep the best student workers happy to make sure they come back.

    Cons

Hours can be long, especially after large events

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the positive and nurturing environment and great food!
