    - Behind the curve on developed QMS prior to merge - Challenged by some of SLB policies post-merge

        Pros

        Experience is great you get to learn a lot of things with Smith. Great benefits. 3 weeks vacation when you get hired on full time.

        Cons

        Somewhat low job security especially when the field is down. Low raise frequency. Management can be challenging sometimes.

        I really did not like it when the company was bought out by another company

        Keep the employees that really like there jobs and get rid of the ones that don't. Listen to the employee you will notice the ones that don't like there job.

        Technology, support and tools always available to do your job, no questions.

        several decisions driven only by leading indicators, sometimes against common sense. being O&E company, it's strongly impacted by the market fluctuations

        Good when oilfield is going well

        Cons

        Horrible managers who don't have a clue to run a business and are not leaders. They are the only ones not hurting financially and everyone else is getting stuff repoed

        I worked at Smith International

        Pros

        Smith was a large company that had a small company feel to it. The employees and managers were all very nice on the whole.

        Cons

        After acquiring WH Energy, Smith International lost a lot of the small company feel that made it seem like a special place to work.

        Advice to Management

        Would have been better to not have tried to grow too big, too fast. Aside from that Smith International was a well ran company.
