    You get FT hours and OT

    Cons

    Promotions on 1st shift based on "seniority." Not seniority based who was with the company longer but how long you've attained your position.
    Ex; a 1st shift employee with the company (for 5 yrs) cannot attain a promotion unless they change shifts. If you can't change shifts, you will remain stagnant.

    Advice to Management

    Promote on employees on the shift they presently work. Everyone cannot change shifts. Advancement opportunities for everyone.

    Pros

    Smith & Nephew bought out Arthrocare three years ago. Unlike other medical device companies, the Arthrocare facility is still up and thriving .

    Cons

    With senior management in Andover or Memphis, things are sometimes disjointed.

    Benefits were good.

    Cons

    It is an extremely frustrating place due to the multiple systems that make doing your job difficult. There is no practical business sense from management. Management agrees that all the systems are complicating but they are not interested in making change. The employee turn over was high. Some departments have more openings than people.

    Advice to Management

    Sit at a desk and try to do the actual work. Perhaps you will understand why everyone is frustrated. Do something different to retain your talented employees otherwise you will be left with the people staying since they have a pension and can't leave.

    Pros

    - Free coffee
    - Frontline workers are decent people
    - Pay and benefits exist, but are nothing special
    - On-site cafeteria
    - "Job security" in the unfulfilling sense your work is never done (except for the constant threat of layoff or reorganization)

    Cons

    - Grossly incompetent, unethical management
    - No career growth or advancement unless you're an inexperienced/underpaid 20-something, a foreign worker requiring a visa, or an old buddy of a senior leader
    - Arbitrary standards / unfairness
    - Expected to work on vacation, while sick, nights, weekends, with no overtime pay or comp time
    - Pure chaos in terms of processes and systems
    - Extremely inconsistent direction from leadership who lack any semblance of strategic vision. The "rules" don't apply to everyone, and the "rules" change on a daily basis.
    - Management constantly wastes money and mismanages resources on projects that are needless or just abandoned
    - Zero job security. Constant stress, "reorganization" into further chaos, and "organizational change". Not evolution or growth, just change for the sake of change, because no one in the middle or at the top knows what they are doing. The only constant at the company in the 5 years I worked there was nitpicking, micromanagement, rumors of layoffs, secretive and questionable promotions with no public postings, and a total lack of transparency by the company. Oh, and the low bonuses. My reporting structure changed 4 times in the first year I was there alone.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house, meaning start the purge with yourselves. Or sell the company to another company that knows how to innovate, manage, inspire, and value its employees.

    Some poor management - depending on the person.

    Advice to Management

    Some projects need more clarity. The project I worked on lacked direction and guidance which made morale a big issue.
