I have been working at SmithGroup full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Everyone is nice, great to work around good people. Flexible work schedule and good access to technology to do your job.

    Cons

Work is siloed and project managers don't really know team is really doing. Salary is low compared to other places.

    Advice to Management

Let more people play a real part of each project and not just the same people.

I have been working at SmithGroup full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

      Challenging projects and talented colleagues

      Cons

People tend to do only what they were hired with experience doing, not much opportunity to advance your career into new areas.

I worked at SmithGroup full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Many of the people are friendly. Project work can be interesting depending on how you are staffed.

      Cons

I was recruited out of state to join the firm. The position described to me was healthcare/health science higher education design & planning role. Design and planning are also physically separated creating coordination problems. The...

      Advice to Management

Healthcare studio leaders should consider outsourcing all healthcare planning efforts to other offices. The organization of planning vs architecture is outdated and will continue to suffer from staff turnover. Studio leaders could consider moving out of private offices and make an effort to collaborate with staff to foster growth and leadership, similar to most firms.

      Approves of CEO

I have been working at SmithGroup full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Lots of good people work here. It's not a very political place, and hard work is remunerated over big egos and personalities. There is good work-life balance and flexibility.

      Cons

Things can move a bit slowly sometimes, especially when working in large projects. Very ambitious people can feel a bit frustrated by this.

      Advice to Management

They need to figure out ways to inject more energy into the company.
