Cons
A person who does an identical job to a person who worked there for 20 years and perhaps do more and better for a little bit more that a minimum wage. How is that equal? Is not. How is that good practice where supervisor whispers to some of the subordinates to stay for overtime and does not offer/announce that to all. People are milking the job and cherry picking what they want to do and management of that department...

Some of the bad mangers - really bad left already for Pratt jobs and others. There is still a lot of bad ones here. Like they got let go someplace else and came to Smiths. Survey your employees, ask for what they think about their line managers. And do something about it. Current MySay survey is for show. No corrective action follows. People at Smiths should get fired for what they do to others.

Pros
This was a great company at one time, but no more. Depending on your position you can have a good work family ratio, also in who you work for and product line. W splitting from Smiths Group, so maybe things will change for the better.
Cons
At the director level they have created a fear for your job from the manager down to the rep level. Ageism seems to be rapidly mounting against certain areas. Favoritism for the west coast side of the business. Shadey reporting in the sales numbers, in which this never happened before. Products have demonshied in quality and not keeping up with competitors.

Pros
There are no pros for this company, they over work you, under pay you and people tend to be rude, unprofessional, demeaning, not a team member and just make it unpleasant. There are a few people that are nice but for the most part just rude and demeaning.
Cons
Over worked and under paid. They add more and more work and do not pay what you are worth.

Pros
Recently announced separation from parent company which brings about great opportunity for the organization to become independent and make decisions on its own (faster and smarter) and be more competitive in med device market. Many great people with breadth of knowledge and ideas. Leadership that truly care about its employees and customers.
Cons
Some things take longer than desired to get completed. Separation should help with this. Still some waste in processes and room to be more efficient.
Advice to Management
Continue to trust and build upon your employees who are delivering on their objectives. Challenge every existing process to get better.

Sales organization is a dictatorship who “leads” by intimidation. It’s no surprise they get sued by current and former employees. This company has a reputation for manipulating numbers and shorting employees on compensation. They settle out of court to cover their rear ends. Very shady.......

- Caribou coffee stations - Generally friendly colleagues - Flexibility in work hours - Fun company outings/happy hours - Pay is good

- Upper management acts as though they value you input, but shuts down suggestions of "lesser" employees if not in alignment with what they're already planning - Lack of transparency/communication from higher-ups - Lack of consistent training - Little to no room for professional growth - Reactive response to setbacks, rather than proactive
Advice to Management
Employees should not have to feel that as long as they keep their head down, they'll skate on by. You have a knowledgeable, talented team and should proactively take their suggestions into account. It's also important to have those in leadership roles based on skill set, not on how many years they've been with the company.

Pros
Many work really hard to try and make a difference. Manufacturing sites take pride in making high quality products.
Cons
Decisions are shrouded in politics and secrecy. Focus is too heavy on the short term. Long term vision is lacking and the company is way too behind the times and competitors to catch up. Most talented/productive employees are overworked and then leave. No diversity at the top.
