I worked at Snagajob full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I truly believe that most of the people working at SAJ believe they are working to make a difference in the world. There's something really valuable about being able to say that you help people find jobs for a living. In addition, the people at SAJ are some of the brightest and most creative I've ever been around. Management genuinely values Snaggers puts a priority on culture and benefits to keep morale high and top performers happy.

    Cons

In my 5 years at SAJ, there was a lot of reorgs and shuffling around. However, I think things are now in a good place and the direction seems solid.

Thank you for your positive feedback! I, too, am proud to work with wonderful people who want to make an impact on the world. I know we've experienced a lot of change in the past couple of years, and ... More

I have been working at Snagajob full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good culture, mostly good people, relaxed dress and a lot of fun company events.

    Cons

Upper management, particularly in sales are dictators and are very disconnected from reality. A lot of managers were brought in this year from outside companies and are trying to exact change based on previous company experience rather than adapting to what works for Snagajob. They also claim that they want feedback consistently, but when feedback is given that either challenges them, or does not align with their beliefs, people are talked down to as a result

    Advice to Management

If you want feedback, learn how to take it. Understand that not all people can be managed the same way, and be willing to take ownership that not all processes and systems that are put into place are going to be successful. Don't always blame the sales people or 'lower level' employees for those failures just to keep your own image clear

I worked at Snagajob full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits (vacation, 401K match, PTO for volunteering in the community, etc.) and great people here. The office in Richmond is pretty cool (there's a gym with locker rooms and showers, a slide, and ping pong) and they have organized social events throughout the year: volleyball, office olympics, grilling burgers and hotdogs, ultimate frisbee, etc. Coworkers are smart, dedicated and passionate. If you're trying to get away with doing the bare minimum, you won't last long here. HR is also really involved in trying to make this company a great place to work. They’re very proactive about listening to employees and relaying information to senior leadership. Overall, this is a good place to work for a couple of years, gain some experience, make some connections with people who will go other places, and then move on with your career.

    Cons

It’s difficult to be confident in leadership here. Senior leadership has been a revolving door for the past three years and it’s hard to tell whether that’s the cause for the company restructuring every four to six months or if it’s just because they lack the foresight to make the best strategic decisions. Either way, the continual knee-jerk changes in direction results in good people leaving, either from layoffs or for better opportunities.

great vacation time, 401k matching, and good people work here.

    Cons

internal process need to be re-vamped. a lot of miscommunication between sales, engineering, product, and marketing causes quite a bit of unnecessary headache

    Advice to Management

when you see people with good talent, help them create a plan for growth, or you may end up losing them.

I have been working at Snagajob (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Snagajob is an incredible company to work for. They have a motivating mission and they employ people who want to help hourly workers get hired and "live more fulfilling lives". There are great benefits (18+ days of PTO and they just revamped maternity leave and holidays), all great things. It's been a great place to work for the past few years.

    Cons

Some hiring frustrations but overall great company to work for.

    Pros

Coworkers are great for the most part, it used to be a great place to work from a culture standpoint and there are still some positive aspects to the culture remaining.

    Cons

Lack of accountability is rampant and departments withing the organization do not always feel like they are on the same page and do not always work together well.

    Advice to Management

Management seems out of touch with reality and makes decisions to go down paths and launch new products that aren't really ready for release.

I worked at Snagajob (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture was an important part of the corporate strategy and the feeling of team made it a nice place.

    Cons

Too much culture leaves out execution and focus. It was hard to get focused when you had 5pm beer parties and management changes all the time.

    Advice to Management

Deliver value by increasing your execution on results.

I have been working at Snagajob full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Every employee is empowered to make a difference. It's a pleasure to go to work everyday knowing you are making a difference, doing meaningful work and collaborating with smart people.

Atmosphere is very fun while demanding. Everyone is teated with respect while still having fun.

    Cons

Growing so fast that days can be long and frustrating at times. Need to keep culture strong through change.

    Advice to Management

Keep an open line of communication with your employees. With all of the new hires some snaggers are feeling like we've completely changed our ability to have fun and get work done.

I worked at Snagajob full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere and benefits. Young hip company. Great building and offices with solid corporate structure.

    Cons

They have 3-4 people supporting 40+million dollars of business. There are 1000s of requests daily and got upset if any one of the customers were dissatisfied for any reason; when it is completely impossible to solve and make happy everyone's issues to their satisfaction in a timely manner. People that have no idea about technology or features or why they have to wait or can't get through to a staff or 3 people.

    Advice to Management

If you want to grow your company grow your staff and treat them as less than expendable and replaceable.
