I have been working at Snap-on Business Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beats me... I couldn't come up with a single one.

    Cons

This place is career suicide. Career opportunities are a non-starter. There is massive amounts of internal politics. Management talks to the company like they're kindergartners at company meetings. There is no work life balance. You are pretty much expected to answer email off hours, and because no one can manage a project around here you WILL be expected to work late/weekends to deliver a project on a date you never agreed to, just because someone in sales promised something without ever talking to IT.

They are hell bent on moving all of the IT offshore. I have watched dozens of extremely talented folks let go, to be replaced by cheap offshore talent that isn't capable of performing even a fraction of the work. Add to that the dozens who left of their own free will, and you have a place full of offshore telecommuters and folks just riding it out a few more years until retirement. They are using painfully antiquated hardware, tools, and software. Get this, the primary application is written in FLASH!

The product team has no vision or strategy, they don't know what they want to sell next, or who their customers are. They're flushing money down the drain chasing dead business lines or new lines with no customer interest. They are completely incapable of managing their existing customers and just agree to (read: give away for free) anything they ask for.

    Advice to Management

The product team has no idea what they're doing, they cave to every customer request regardless of how unprofitable it is. Senior IT leadership is a bunch of do-nothings that spend their day trying to carve out their own fiefdom and protect it.

Start listening to the team members. We can see the rot from the inside out, we're living it every day.

Stop the offshoring. It's been proven by hundreds of companies that it doesn't work. You end up spending more than you save when you have to rework everything the below average offshore teams deliver.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication in all areas. Realize employees have families and cannot be chained to a computer.
